Statement on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump:
President Erdoğan spoke by phone with U.S. President Trump this evening.
Recent developments in Syria as well as the bilateral relations were addressed during the phone call.
Stating that Turkey welcomes President Trump’s decision to withdraw from Syria, President Erdoğan reminded that Turkey, in this regard, stands ready to lend every kind of support to the U.S., its NATO ally.
Emphasizing that the Manbij Roadmap should be completed in order to prevent any authority vacuum in the region and that the elements which seek to hinder the implementation of the withdrawal decision should be denied any opportunity, the two leaders touched upon the importance of a healthy communication with the public.
President Erdoğan and President Trump also discussed the idea of forming a terror-free safe zone in the north of Syria on the basis of Syria’s territorial integrity.
President Erdoğan underlined that Turkey has no problems with the Kurds and that Turkey’s goal is to fight against terrorist organizations DAESH, the PKK and the PKK’s Syrian branches, which pose a threat to Turkey’s national security.
The two leaders also agreed to advance the bilateral economic relations.
Respectfully announced to the public.
