Phone Call with President Putin of Russia

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

The call addressed the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war and the humanitarian situation on the ground.

President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye maintained the sincere approach it had been displaying since the very beginning in order for peace to be ensured between Russia and Ukraine.

Underscoring that declaration of a lasting ceasefire would pave the way for a long-term solution, President Erdoğan said that he wholeheartedly wished for the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine would yield positive results.

Stressing that reaching a consensus on certain matters might require leader-level talks, President Erdoğan reiterated his proposal for hosting President Putin of Russia and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in Istanbul or Ankara.

Pointing out that the war would benefit no one, and that diplomacy should be given a chance, President Erdoğan drew attention to the need to attach importance to the humanitarian situation on the ground and operate the humanitarian corridors effectively without any problems in both directions.
