OIC information ministers convene with “Palestine” agenda on February 24 in İstanbul

The Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers will be held on February 24, 2024 with the theme "Disinformation and Hostilities Against Journalists and Media Outlets in the Occupied Palestinian Territory."

In the meeting to be hosted by our Directorate, the hostilities of Israel against journalists in the occupied Palestinian territory since October 7 and Israel’s disinformation activities aimed at the global public opinion will be discussed.

The meeting, which will be honored by the participation of information ministers and heads of institutions in charge of communications and media of OIC member countries, will be inaugurated by the Presidency’s Director of Communications, who holds the OIC Information Ministers Term Presidency, and OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha.

The assaults of the Israeli administration, which has caused the death of 130 journalists along with civilians in Gaza, as well as the misleading and fabricated news and disinformation activities performed by Israel will be discussed in detail during the meeting.

 

The final declaration will be shared with the public

At the conclusion of the meeting, the public will be given access to the final declaration that has been approved by all of the participating nations.

This meeting will be the first extraordinary meeting held on a sectoral basis in the history of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The term presidency of the OIC Conference of Information Ministers was transferred from Saudi Arabia to Türkiye in 2022.
