October 29 celebrations abroad

In conjunction with the October 29 Republic Day festivities and the commemoration of the 101st anniversary of the Republic, a series of ceremonies and events have been organised internationally.

The US

John Muns, Mayor of Plano, one of the largest cities in the US state of Texas, proclaimed October 29 as "Republic of Türkiye Day" in the city.

"The Turkish Society of Texas (TURKSOTX)", which represents the Turkish community in Texas, hosted a celebration night to mark the 101st anniversary of the Republic.

On the night marked by lively celebrations on Republic Day, performers Ferhat Göçer, Müjde Kızılkan, and the İskender Paydaş Orchestra took the stage.

The night also featured the dancers' harmandalı and zeybek performances, as Anastasia Nassar, an elementary school student, recited every verse of the National Anthem by heart.

Also present at the night event, Plano Mayor Muns proclaimed October 29 as the "Republic of Türkiye Day" in the city.

The declaration, signed by Muns, emphasised the significant contribution of the Turkish-American community to the diversity of Plano.

The declaration read, "I, Mayor John Muns of Plano, declare Tuesday, October 29, as the Republic of Türkiye Day in Plano, and I invite all citizens to join me and the Plano City Council in celebrating this centennial anniversary."

Austria

A ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Vienna on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day.

The event organised for the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye began with the Turkish National Anthem and the Austrian National Anthem.

Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ambassador Hatun Demirer, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the Vienna Office of the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Levent Eler, Permanent Representative of the US to the Vienna Office of the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Laura Holgate, and Special Envoy of the Federal Chancellor for Global Affairs, Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, as well as high-level diplomats, attended the event.

During the ceremony where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was screened, Türkiye's Ambassador to Vienna, Ozan Ceyhun, spoke about the Turkish nation's struggle during the War of Independence and the foundation of the Republic.

Ceyhun stated that the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's goal of elevating the Turkish nation to the level of contemporary civilisations became the Republic's vision.

Indicating that the second century of the Republic is called the "Century of Türkiye, Ceyhun said, "Our country is moving forward with firm steps towards the future with its rich historical heritage and the important development steps taken under the leadership of our President."

Ceyhun additionally mentioned Türkiye's resolute fight against all forms of terrorism, emphasising the importance of friendly and allied countries supporting Türkiye in this fight.

Noting that the positive momentum that relations between Austria and Türkiye have gained in recent years is encouraging, Ceyhun indicated that this year marked the 100th anniversary of Türkiye and Austria's Friendship Treaty and the 60th anniversary of the Recruitment Agreement, and that delightful events were held to bring the two countries closer together during this period.

Ceyhun said, "We value the fact that our bilateral relations are deepening and strengthening in many areas. We hope to continue this cooperation in the future."

In his speech, Special Representative for Global Affairs of the Austrian Federal Chancellery, Launsky-Tieffenthal, emphasised the favourable level of bilateral relations with Türkiye, an important ally at a time of serious global challenges.

Launsky-Tieffenthal stated that he strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Kahramankazan campus of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) once again.

After the ceremony, guests were served delicacies from the Turkish cuisine.

Azerbaijan

A ceremony was held in the Turkish Martyrs' Memorial in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The ceremony was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Baku, Cahit Bağcı, Azerbaijan Task Group Commander Lieutenant General Bahtiyar Ersay, Military Attaché Major General Gaffar Gören, Baku Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ufuk Turganer, as well as representatives from Turkish institutions and organisations operating in Azerbaijan, embassy and attaché office staff, business people, and citizens.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Bağcı laid a wreath at the Turkish Martyrs' Memorial and a moment of silence was observed.

The military band of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence performed the Turkish National Anthem and the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.

Bağcı signed the memorial book and placed carnations on the symbolic graves of martyrs.

Bağcı and his entourage subsequently paid a visit to Martyrs' Lane, the resting place of those who fell on January 20.

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, as well as numerous other guests, attended a reception that Türkiye's Ambassador to Baku, Cahit Bağcı, hosted at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

The event started with the Turkish National Anthem and the Azerbaijani National Anthem, and the video message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was screened.

In her speech, Gafarova congratulated the 101st anniversary of the brotherly Republic of Türkiye on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev and expressed her best wishes.

Gafarova stated that 101 years ago, the heroic Turkish people united around a single purpose under the leadership of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, once again demonstrating to the world their unwavering determination in the struggle for independence, and that the proclamation of the Republic on October 29, 1923, was the decisive and final victory of the indomitable will.

Türkiye will remain the strongest supporter of Azerbaijan

Ambassador Bağcı said that he commemorated all heroes from Sultan Alparslan to Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland with mercy and gratitude.

Bağcı remarked that they continued to work in a spirit of unity and solidarity under President Erdoğan's leadership to move the Republic's ideals forward in every field and bring Türkiye to a more prosperous future.

Morocco

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was marked with great enthusiasm in Rabat, the capital of Morocco.

The reception, hosted by Ambassador of Türkiye to Morocco Mustafa İlker Kılıç, was attended by Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh, along with MPs and senators, bureaucrats, foreign ambassadors, and Turkish nationals residing in Morocco.

Following the performance of the national anthems at the reception, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was displayed.

In his address, Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics Kayouh emphasised the enduring solidarity between the two nations.

Minister Kayouh noted that trade has made substantial progress over the past decade, with a 14 percent increase following the conclusion of the mutually beneficial free trade agreement in 2004.

Ambassador to Rabat Kılıç emphasised that October 29 is a day of pride for the Turkish nation, commemorating the anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, the most recent of the 16 states in its 3,000-year history.

"Our Republic stood robust, independent, dynamic, and resolute even amidst this time of significant uncertainty. Our resolve will not be compromised by any terrorist threat or act; rather, it will be fortified," Kılıç said, while respectfully commemorating the martyrs of the heinous terrorist attack in Ankara last week, targeting the developing defence industry.

Kılıç highlighted the violence in the Middle East, stating:

"Violations of international law and the conflicts that surround us exacerbate the pressures on countries and peoples, leading us to question our trust in the international system. The failure to punish Israel for the genocide in Gaza has resulted in attacks in Lebanon and throughout the Middle East, spreading the conflict throughout the region. As His Majesty King Mohammed VI and our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have repeatedly stated, there is only one solution to the Middle East conflict: an independent and sovereign State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully and securely alongside the State of Israel.

The guests appreciated the water marbling arts exhibited by Sakarya University lecturer Songül Ergün, who attended the reception as a guest of Yunus Emre Institute in Rabat, and the photo exhibition featuring selections from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, featuring artifacts and places from Türkiye on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Following the speeches, the guests were treated to an array of flavours from Turkish cuisine at the stands.

Round-trip THY flight tickets and vacation packages were given to the guests through a lottery, while a Moroccan orchestra performed Turkish musical pieces.

Ambassador İlker Kılıç's spouse, Aslı Kılıç, hosted the event, which was organised by the Rabat Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) as part of the Republic Day celebrations on October 29.

Dr. Songül Ergün, a faculty member from Sakarya University currently visiting Rabat as a guest of the Yunus Emre Institute, introduced the spouses of visiting ambassadors to the craft of water marbling, a traditional Turkish art, and provided them with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on workshop.

At the end of the event, Ergün gifted the participants items from her own works. Guests were served delicacies from the Turkish cuisine.

Qatar

October 29 Republic Day was celebrated at the Qatar Turkish School in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The ceremony organised by the Qatar Turkish School and the Doha branch of the Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) was attended by Kübra Göksu, the spouse of Türkiye's Ambassador to Doha Mustafa Göksu, Doha Education Counsellor Mustafa Adaş from the Ministry of National Education, Professor Ahmet Uysal, the Doha Coordinator of YEE, and representatives from Turkish institutions in Qatar, teachers, students, and parents.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, and the Doha Education Counsellor Adaş from the Ministry of National Education stated that they were proudly celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic and also said, "It is our greatest responsibility to keep this republic alive, as entrusted to us by our martyrs."

Emphasising the importance of the day, YEE Doha Coordinator Uysal said, "Preserving and passing on our Republic to future generations, with the strength we inherited from our ancestors and the lessons we learnt from history, is the most profound demonstration of our respect for the past and our responsibility for the future."

During the ceremony, students read poems and showcased performances, including a theatre play titled "Captain Faruk." Turkish delight was served to the participants at the end of the ceremony.

October 29 Republic Day was celebrated at the Qatar-Türkiye Combined Joint Force Command.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Doha, Mustafa Göksu, PhD, Deputy Commander of Gendarmerie General, Lieutenant General İsmail Balıbek, Deputy Commander of Qatar-Türkiye Combined Joint Force, Brigadier General Kürşad Cihan Erce, Türkiye's Military Attaché in Doha, Colonel Ali Çetin, Chief of Staff of Qatar-Türkiye Combined Joint Force Command, Khalid Muhammed Al Tamimi, along with soldiers, attended the ceremony at Khalid bin Al Walid Military Camp in Doha.

The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence honouring martyrs and veterans, followed by the national anthems of both countries. Messages for the 101st anniversary of Republic Day from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler, and Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak were read.

There was a video on display from the Ministry of National Defense showcasing Türkiye's military prowess and defence capabilities.

During his speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Göksu said, ''Our Republic, founded at the end of a resolute struggle that inspired many nations, remains committed to the principle of peace at home and peace in the world. In recent years, as the children of this mission, we have once again been fighting a historic struggle to safeguard our existence and our future.''

Landmark buildings in Qatar were illuminated in the colours of the Turkish flag for Republic Day

On the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, landmark buildings in Doha, the capital of Qatar, were illuminated in the colours of the Turkish flag with the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Doha.

The Turkish flags displayed messages reading 'Happy Republic Day of Türkiye' and 'Celebrating the 101st Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye".

Türkiye's Ambassador to Doha, M. Mustafa Göksu, PhD, stated, ''We would like to thank our Qatari brothers and sisters for the wonderful celebrations that have taken place in every field in honour of the Republic's 101st anniversary. We would like to express our gratitude to all authorities for displaying the Turkish flag on their buildings on this significant day.

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The reception held by the Ambassador of Türkiye to Doha Dr. Mustafa Göksu was attended by high-level officials of Qatar, core diplomatic representatives, military attachés, Turkish businesspeople, and ministry staff, as well as a sizeable number of press members. The Embassy was illuminated with the colours of the Turkish flag, red and white.

The reception commenced with the national anthems of both countries, followed by a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Turkish Ambassador to Doha, Göksu, in his speech at the reception, expressed his delight in celebrating the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and said, "The Republic of Türkiye has turned 101 years old. Our noble nation shaped world history with its glorious conquests, culture, and civilisation."

An exhibition of images from Türkiye's historical and tourist destinations was displayed during the reception, and promotional videos with the theme "Century of Türkiye," prepared by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, were screened for the attendees.

The reception, accompanied by a pleasant selection of Turkish classical music, was concluded with the serving of various delicacies from Turkish cuisine to the attendees.

Kazakhstan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan sent a congratulatory message to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 29 Republic Day.

According to the statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Tokayev extended his congratulations to President Erdoğan and the Turkish people on the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

Tokayev highlighted that this date is of special importance for the Republic of Türkiye, symbolising its unity and progress, and he also expressed confidence that through joint efforts, the strategic cooperation between Astana and Ankara will keep strengthening for the two countries’ benefit.

Tokayev wished Recep Tayyip Erdoğan success in his responsible post. He also wished well-being and prosperity to the brotherly nation of Türkiye.

The reception, organised by Turkish Ambassador to Astana Mustafa Kapucu and his wife Ahu Kapucu, saw the presence of notable figures, including Kazakhstan Speaker of the Parliament Erlan Qosanov, Kazakhstan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alibek Bakayev, deputies from the Kazakh Senate and Parliament, officials from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defence, fellow ambassadors, and a variety of esteemed guests.

The event commenced with a minute of silence to honour the individuals who tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries Corporation (TAI).

Following the performance of the national anthems at the reception by the Presidential Band of Kazakhstan, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was screened.

In his address, Qosanov expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attack on TAI, wishing Allah's mercy for the departed, and said, "Kazakh people are always in solidarity with their Turkish brothers."

Expressing that they gathered at the event celebrating the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, Qosanov remarked, "On behalf of the members of our Parliament, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the brotherly Turkish people on this significant occasion."

Highlighting the challenges faced by Türkiye in this century, Chairman Qosanov noted, "Thanks to the constructive policies of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye has emerged as one of the leading and influential nations on the global stage. We genuinely celebrate each achievement of Türkiye."

Ambassador Kapucu started his speech by commemorating the martyrs who lost their lives in the treacherous terrorist attack on the TAI campus.

Remarking that the War of Independence, which was led by the Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was a significant endeavour aimed at liberating the homeland from foreign occupation, and it concluded successfully, reflecting the unwavering spirit, sacrifices, and collective efforts of the Turkish nation, Kapucu said, "Today marks the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of our Republic, a moment that encapsulated our sacrifices and placed the will of the nation at its core, on October 29, 1923. We continue to work and sacrifice to celebrate our Republic with the same enthusiasm today as we did back then."

Kapucu stated that Türkiye was the first country to recognise Kazakhstan 2 hours after the declaration of independence.

The reception concluded with a performance by the band "Abıroy," known for their songs reinforcing the spirit of patriotism in Kazakhstan, and a display of delicacies from Turkish cuisine.

TRNC

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and October 29 Republic Day were celebrated with ceremonies in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The October 29 Republic Day ceremony was held in front of the Atatürk Monument in the capital city of Nicosia.

The ceremony was attended by President Ersin Tatar of TRNC, Speaker of the Republican Assembly Ziya Öztürkler, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Türkiye's Ambassador to Nicosia Yasin Ekrem Serim, President of the Supreme Court of the TRNC Bertan Özerdağ, 2nd President Mehmet Ali Talat, Commander of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Major General Sebahattin Kılınç, Commander of the Security Forces Command Major İlker Görgülü, main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Chairman Tufan Erhürman, as well as ministers, MPs, mayors, military officials, representatives from institutions, organisations, and associations, and citizens.

The ceremony began at 09:30 with the laying of wreaths at the monument, following the established order of protocol. Following the raising of the flags, a moment of silence, and the Turkish National Anthem, President Ersin Tatar and Ambassador of Türkiye to Nicosia Yasin Ekrem Serim signed the special memorial book.

TRNC President Ersin Tatar wrote the following in the special book of the monument:

"Great Leader Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as the Turkish Cypriot people, a part of the Great Turkish nation, we celebrate the Republic of Türkiye's 101st anniversary with great enthusiasm. Despite all odds, the national war of independence was won through self-sacrifice and acts of bravery. The nationalist fervour and aspirations of the Turkish Cypriots ignited right after the declaration of the Republic of Türkiye. The Turkish Cypriot people have always followed the principles and revolutions of Atatürk. I commemorate Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, and his comrades-in-arms with gratitude and appreciation. I extend my warmest congratulations on the Republic Day of our motherland, the Republic of Türkiye."

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and October 29 Republic Day were commemorated with a reception and cortege held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

President Ersin Tatar of TRNC, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Türkiye's Ambassador to Lefkoşa Yasin Ekrem Serim, Security Forces Commander Major General İlker Görgülü, Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, and Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek, as well as students and citizens, attended the Republic Cortege held by the TRNC Ministry of Education in the capital city Lefkoşa.

The military band accompanied the cortege, where the flags of Türkiye and TRNC, together with posters of Atatürk, were displayed.

The cortege began at Pronto Junction and concluded on Dereboyu Street, applauded by the citizens along its route.

The October 29 Republic Day reception was hosted by the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa in the Embassy's garden.

The reception was attended by President Ersin Tatar of TRNC, Speaker of the Republican Assembly Ziya Öztürkler, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, President of the Supreme Court Bertan Özerdağ, 2nd President Mehmet Ali Talat, Security Forces Commander Major General İlker Görgülü, Main Opposition Party Chairman Tufan Erhürman, as well as ministers, members of parliaments, military officials, representatives from institutions and organisations, and invited guests.

The reception began with a moment of silence for the martyrs and the Turkish National Anthem, followed by a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 29, Republic Day.

Ambassador Serim stated that they are proud to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic, the symbol of independence and the guarantor of this day and the future. Serim emphasised that the republic, which is the crown jewel of the national struggle fought for by the Turkish people with all their might, has entered its second century, despite the challenges and attacks it has faced throughout its history.

Kosovo

President Vjosa Osmani of Kosovo congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 29 Republic Day.

President Osmani shared an X message in Turkish on the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

Osmani said, "Mr. President Erdoğan, I hope that the spirit of unity and solidarity prevails throughout your country on this significant day as the Turkish nation celebrates Republic Day. The people of Kosovo extend their sincere gratitude for Türkiye's unwavering support and enduring friendship over many years."

Osmani expressed a strong commitment to enhancing the partnership between Türkiye and Kosovo, highlighting their eagerness to seize opportunities for collaboration.

Iran

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception held at the Embassy in Tehran.

The October 29 Republic Day reception hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Prof. Dr. Hijabi Kırlangıç and his wife Zeynep Kırlangıç was attended by Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, former Speaker of the Parliament and President of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature Gholamali Haddad Adel, representatives of foreign missions, representatives of Turkish institutions, and Turkish citizens living in Iran.

The ceremony started with the Turkish National Anthem and the Iranian National Anthem, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's October 29 Republic Day message was played to the guests.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Kırlangıç stated that the proclamation of the Republic under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a great achievement of Türkiye.

Highlighting that the achievements of the Republic of Türkiye remain a beacon of inspiration for numerous nations, Kırlangıç expressed, "At this moment, I wish to extend our heartfelt respects to all our martyrs and veterans who courageously and heroically dedicated themselves to the independence and prosperity of our Türkiye."

Ambassador Kırlangıç continued his remarks by saying, "Since the establishment of the Republic, we have been diligently working towards fostering harmonious and mutually beneficial relationships with all nations, particularly those in close proximity to us."

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated at the Turkish Primary School in Tehran, the capital of Iran.

The event held at the Turkish Primary School in Tehran was attended by the Ambassador of Türkiye to Tehran,, Prof. Hijabi Kırlangıç, embassy staff, as well as students' parents, and teachers.

During the event, students showcased a series of performances centred around the October 29 Republic Day.

Ambassador of Türkiye to Tehran Prof. Kırlangıç presented gifts to the winners of the Republic Day painting and poetry contests at the program's conclusion.

 

Vatican City

Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See (Secretary of State) Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher said at a ceremony held at the ancient Cancelleria Palace on October 29 Republic Day that he shares the Turkish people's excitement today as they commemorate the birth of the Turkish Republic.

Türkiye's Ambassador to the Vatican Ufuk Ulutaş hosted a reception at the Vatican's historic palace in the heart of Rome and greeted each attendee individually at the door.

The reception was attended by numerous guests, including Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See, Archbishop Gallagher, the Under Secretary for the Holy See's Relations with States and International Organisations (Secretariat of State) for Bilateral Relations, Monsignor Miroslaw Stanislaw Wachowski, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Holy See, Ilgar Muhtarov, the Ambassador of Australia to the Holy See, Chiara Porro, and TRNC Representative in Rome, Mustafa Kemal Beyazbayram.

The reception began with the playing of the two countries' national anthems, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's congratulatory message was read.

Ambassador Ulutaş expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to host the Republic Day event for the second time, adding, "I would want to commemorate those who tragically lost their lives in the heinous terrorist attack in Ankara last week. I wish Allah's mercy upon our martyrs and swift recovery to the wounded."

Ulutaş commemorated Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Republic's founder, and the individuals who assisted in its formation, stating, "Our land and nation have played a vital role in the geopolitics of Europe, the Middle East, Western Asia, Africa, the Mediterranean, and beyond for centuries. Our interaction with European states in what is called the West, including the Vatican, has shaped European history."

Ulutaş also stated that the incidents occurring in Gaza and Palestine constitute a crime against humanity.

Ulutaş expressed gratitude to Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See (Secretary of State) Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher for accepting their invitation today, recalling the Vatican's assistance to Türkiye during the earthquake disaster centring on Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023.

Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See Archbishop Gallagher said, "We have joined the ambassador, embassy staff, and members of the Turkish community in Rome to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye's founding. I share your genuine excitement on the day the Republic of Türkiye was established."

Stating that diplomatic relations between the Vatican and Türkiye were established in 1960, Archbishop Gallagher said, "This anniversary is an opportunity to once again express friendship and appreciation for the positive bilateral relations with Türkiye, which are characterised by cordiality and respect. These ties have been wonderfully reflected through reciprocal high-level visits and collaboration in various areas of common interest."

Recalling that Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and most recently, Pope Francis visited Türkiye in 2014; Archbishop Gallagher said that he also attended the 3rd Antalya Diplomacy Forum earlier this year.

Gallagher stated that Türkiye has a tremendous deal of responsibility because of its historical and geographical location, as well as its regional impact.

Archbishop Gallagher said that Türkiye is home to some of the most holy places and events in Christian history, stating, "It was the site of the first eight councils. In this sense, we are preparing for a significant event that will take place next year during the Jubilee celebrations. Next year marks the 1,700th anniversary of the first council, which met in 325 in the ancient city of Nicaea, now known as İznik."

Meanwhile, Pope Francis, Spiritual Leader of Catholic Christians and Head of the State of Vatican City, stated on June 28 that he hopes to visit Türkiye next year, noting that 2025 marks the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea.

Traditional Turkish music concert by the "Meşkin Üç Ahengi" ensemble

The "Meşkin Üç Ahengi" ensemble, formed in 2022 by artists Murat Salim Tokaç, Ali Yılmaz, and Deniz Şahin, performed traditional Turkish music at the event.

The concert was viewed with considerable interest and received widespread praise.

After the concert, the guests were treated to the distinct flavours of Turkish and Italian cuisine at the reception.

Jerusalem

The Turkish Consulate General in Jerusalem hosted a Republic Day reception in occupied East Jerusalem on October 29.

The reception, hosted by the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Jerusalem, İsmail Çobanoğlu, at the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre in East Jerusalem, was attended by Palestinians and Turkish citizens living in the region.

The reception commenced with the reading of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's message for Republic Day, following the Turkish National Anthem.

Ambassador Çobanoğlu conveyed a sense of pride in the Republic's 101st anniversary while also sharing a feeling of sorrow regarding the recent terrorist attacks in Türkiye and the ongoing aggression in Gaza.

Çobanoğlu emphasised that Palestinians are unable to access East Jerusalem because of Israeli restrictions and expressed hope for greater participation in future Republic Day receptions. He remarked, "Serving in a land under occupation makes one truly appreciate the value of our Republic. This land (Palestine) has been under occupation for more than 70 years. As Türkiye, we support a two-state solution. It is our conviction that this is essential for international law and justice. It is an opportunity for us to understand the value of our Republic's achievements."

Çobanoğlu noted that it was necessary to work hard to protect Türkiye's "most valuable legacy, the Republic," and to achieve the Century of Türkiye.

North Macedonia

A panel named “Our Republic and Literature on the 101st Anniversary of its Proclamation” took place in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

The panel was organised by the Education Counsellor's Office of the Embassy of Türkiye in Skopje with the contributions of Aziz Kiril and the Department of Turkology and Methodius University. The event was attended by Fatih Ulusoy, Ambassador of Türkiye to Skopje, Cüneyt Talha Özyürek, Deputy Education Counsellor, Prof. Osman Emin, Head of the Department of Turkology, representatives of Turkish institutions and organisations in the country; academicians and students.

In his speech here, Ambassador Ulusoy stated that they organised a range of events as part of the October 29 Republic Day celebrations and made efforts to effectively promote Türkiye on every available platform.

Ulusoy expressed appreciation to the supporters for organising this academic panel during the week of October 29th, stating, "This event will feature information about the Turkish literature from the Republican period and insights of the literati in this country into Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I hope that this event will contribute to the visibility of our country and the continuation of the existence of our mother tongue, Turkish, in this country."

An event was held at the Old Bazaar, Skopje, in North Macedonia for the October 29 Republic Day.

The Ambassador of Türkiye to North Macedonia, Fatih Ulusoy, the President of the Tradesmen's Association, Bujar Dullovi, the President of the ZOR Association, Hacer Sulooca, bazaar tradesmen, and locals attended the event, which the Tradesmen's Association organised in collaboration with ZOR Association in the capital, Skopje.

In his speech, Ambassador Ulusoy stated that they were commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye's foundation and that today was a day of pride for them.

Ulusoy mentioned that various events took place in many locations to celebrate Republic Day, highlighting that Skopje was the ideal setting for these occasions.

Ulusoy expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the organisation of the event and said, "This event, which is held at the centre of the bazaar, holds significance. We could not be happier on this day, seeing our tradespeople organise such an event and our young people showing that our future is bright with flags in their hands. I would like to convey our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's heartfelt greetings."

As part of the event, students recited poems expressing the importance of the day and performed violin and saz recitals.

As part of the event, specific areas of the Old Bazaar in Skopje were adorned with Turkish flags and Turkish delight was offered to those who visited the bazaar.

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and October 29 Republic Day were celebrated with a reception in Skopje, North Macedonia's capital.

The reception hosted by Türkiye's Ambassador to Skopje, Fatih Ulusoy, was attended by a distinguished group of participants, including North Macedonia's President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, President of the Assembly of North Macedonia Afrim Gashi, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Chief of Army General Staff Major General Sashko Lafchiski, various ministers, members of parliament, representatives from political parties, and representatives of Turkish institutions and organisations in the country, along with numerous other guests.

The event started with the Turkish National Anthem and the North Macedonian National Anthem, and the video message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was screened.

In his speech, Ambassador Ulusoy noted that this marked his first year as an ambassador to North Macedonia, a nation of significant importance to Türkiye, and conveyed his satisfaction in serving in an allied, friendly, and brotherly country.

Noting that various events were organised by the Turkish institutions in the country on the occasion of October 29, Ulusoy stated that the Yunus Emre Institute and Anadolu Agency (AA) have organised exhibitions involving the Republic celebrations of previous years.

Ulusoy said, "May the new administration and the new office of Anadolu Agency in Skopje be auspicious."

Nigeria

Members of parliament, representatives of diplomatic missions, business people, representatives of the Turkish community in Nigeria, members of the press and guests attended the reception hosted by the Ambassador of Türkiye to Abuja, Hidayet Bayraktar.

The ceremony commenced with the Turkish National Anthem and the Nigerian National Anthem.

During the event, Ambassador Bayraktar read President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's message on October 29, Republic Day.

Bayraktar stated that Nigeria plays a vital role in Türkiye's Africa Partnership Policy.

Noting that Türkiye's relations with Nigeria, which were established in 1960, have developed on the basis of friendship and mutual understanding, Bayraktar said, "In recent years, the high-level reciprocal visits provided an opportunity to underline our common goal of strengthening bilateral ties in all areas, including trade, defence industry, energy, construction, manufacturing, health, education, tourism, and culture."

At the reception, an exhibition of photographs by photographer Yavuz Ildız was displayed, showcasing the historical, cultural, and natural beauties of Türkiye that are inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Uzbekistan

Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov of Uzbekistan, Uzbek officials, and many guests attended the reception hosted by the Ambassador of Türkiye to Tashkent, Olgan Bekar, at a hotel in Tashkent.

The event began with the Turkish National Anthem and the National Anthem of Uzbekistan, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was screened.

In his speech, Ambassador Bekar stated that it was a great honour and privilege for them to be celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic in Uzbekistan, the friendly and brotherly ancestral homeland.

Various delicacies from Turkish cuisine were served to the participants at the reception, which was attended by a large number of guests.

A ceremony was held at the Turkish Primary School of Tashkent

A ceremony was held at the Turkish Primary School of Tashkent on October 29, Republic Day.

The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence honouring the martyrs, followed by the Turkish National Anthem, and was attended by Ambassador Bekar, Embassy staff, students, and parents.

During his speech at the ceremony, Bekar emphasised the meaning and significance of the day to the students and celebrated the Republic Day of the participants.

Students of the Turkish Primary School of Tashkent recited poems and performed folk dances and other dances at the event.

Pakistan

The reception at a hotel, hosted by Türkiye's Ambassador to Islamabad, İrfan Neziroğlu, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar of Pakistan, Turkish businesspeople, officials from Turkish institutions and Pakistani citizens.

Attending the reception as the guest of honour, Dar conveyed his sincere congratulations to Türkiye and the Turkish people on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan during his speech.

Dar stated that this significant day further strengthened the brotherly ties between Türkiye and Pakistan, a bond that has lasted throughout history.

Ambassador Neziroğlu emphasised that the crescent and star on the flags of both nations stand as a significant symbol of their friendship.

Noting that he had felt 'like he was in his second home' since his first days in Pakistan, Neziroğlu remarked that Türkiye had not forgotten the support of the Pakistani people during its War of Independence.

The reception ended after the cake cutting.

France

The reception hosted by Türkiye's Ambassador to Paris, Yunus Demirer, was attended by Ambassador Gülnur Aybet, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to UNESCO; Kerem Yılmaz, Türkiye's Consul General in Paris; diplomats from various countries; French politicians; and members of Turkish NGOs.

At the reception, after the national anthems, Ambassador Demirer delivered a speech.

Demirer shared the Republic Day video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with the guests.

Demirer thanked the guests for attending the reception on the Republic's 101st anniversary and said, "On October 29, 1923, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye proclaimed the Republic of Türkiye."

Stating that the Republic of Türkiye has achieved many of the goals set by its founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Demirer emphasised that the changes in the country are particularly evident today, given the wars and humanitarian crises in the region surrounding Türkiye.

After the speeches, the guests were served a variety of delicacies from Turkish cuisine.

Iraq

A ceremony was held at the Türkiye's Embassy in Baghdad on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day.

The ceremony began with the singing of the Turkish and Iraqi national anthems, followed by a recording of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech for October 29, Republic Day.

In his speech, Iraq's Deputy Minister for Bilateral Affairs, Mohammad Bahr al-Uloom, emphasised the importance of the relations between the two countries and noted that these ties were further strengthened by President Erdoğan's visit to Iraq in April.

The Iraqi Deputy Minister also condemned the terrorist attack on TAI in Ankara.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Baghdad, Anıl Bora İnan, stated that October 29, 1923, marked the latest great turning point in thousands of years of Turkish history and said:

''The Turkish people's independence struggle against imperialism was won despite all poverty and suffering, and the foundations of a modern nation-state with all its institutions and organisations were laid solidly with the establishment of the Republic 101 years ago today. Over the last century, the Republic of Türkiye has grown based on its fundamental principles and has remained committed to achieving the level of contemporary civilisation in all fields. Following the national struggle, our Republic concentrated on forging balanced, respectful, and sustainable relations with all members of the civilised world, putting aside old grudges, and investing in the future.

İnan said that the 26 agreements and memorandums of understanding signed during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Iraq in April after a 12-year break strengthened the strategic basis of relations and the common vision.

Embassy staff, representatives from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), representatives from some foreign diplomatic missions in Iraq, government and state officials, and Turkmen community representatives attended the ceremony.

A reception was held in Erbil, Iraq, on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day.

The reception organised by the Turkish Consulate General in Erbil was attended by Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Head of the IKRG  Department of Foreign Relations Safeen Dizayee, Consul General Erman Topçu, IKRG officials, representatives of political parties and Turkish institutions, and citizens in the region.

"In general, one of the main pillars of our foreign policy is to continuously expand our cooperation with our friends and allies," Consul General Topçu stated.

Stating that they attach great importance to developing cooperation and relations with Iraq in general and the IKRG in particular, Topçu said, "We have very strong humanitarian ties with the IKRG and we wish to expand and deepen our relations in every field on the basis of these humanitarian ties."

Topçu congratulated the IKRG for the successful parliamentary elections held on October 20 and expressed his wish for the results to be auspicious.

Regarding relations with the new IKRG government that will be established following the elections, Topçu stated, "We hope to continue working with the new government, which we hope to be established as soon as possible, on the path of peace, stability, prosperity, and security as in the past."

Topçu, Consul General of Türkiye in Erbil, continued his speech as follows:

"I commemorate the founder of our republic, the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with mercy and grace. I pay tribute to our martyrs, veterans, and all the great heroes of our history. Happy 101st anniversary of our Republic, the great plane tree deeply rooted in thousands of years of history."

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message on October 29, Republic Day was also displayed at the reception.

Cameroon

Türkiye's Ambassador to Yaounde, Volkan Işıkçı, hosted the celebration of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic.

Many guests from the business, arts, political, sports, and diplomatic communities attended the reception.

The reception began with the Turkish and Cameroonian national anthems, followed by a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on October 29, Republic Day.

A dvariety of Turkish cuisine delicacies was served to guests as the event concluded.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović, Chairman of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović, ministers, diplomatic representatives of different countries, embassy staff, and many other guests attended the reception at the Embassy of Türkiye in Sarajevo.

In the reception, which commenced with the Turkish National Anthem and the National Anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was presented.

In his speech, Turkish Ambassador to Sarajevo Sadık Babür Girgin thanked the guests for coming to the reception. The reception also featured the opening of a photo exhibition featuring Türkiye's leading projects and significant events.

On the other hand, local officials attended a reception hosted by the Consulate General in Banja Luka.

During his speech, Consul General Can Aygün stated that Türkiye is a nation that continues to grow in strength and has significant opportunities in a variety of fields.

Aygün stated that Türkiye places significant importance on the Balkans region and advocates for the stability, prosperity, and partnership between peoples in the region.

Serbia

The reception organised by the Embassy of Türkiye in Belgrade was attended by local officials as well as diplomatic representatives of other countries and invited guests.

In his speech, Turkish Ambassador to Belgrade, Hami Aksoy, stated that under the leadership of President Erdoğan, Türkiye has made significant strides and achieved numerous successes.

Asserting that their foreign policy objective is to promote peace, stability, and prosperity, Aksoy stated that "Geopolitical turbulence is exacerbated by Islamophobia, xenophobia, irregular migration, climate change, and the deterioration of food and energy security. The most recent example of this is seen in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially Gaza. Israel must be stopped and compelled to accept a permanent ceasefire so that the destruction ends."

Aksoy declared that his tenure as ambassador to Serbia will conclude soon and that the two nations' bilateral relations are at a high level.

Croatia

Local officials and many guests attended the reception organised by the Embassy of Türkiye in Zagreb.

Nurdan Erpulat Altuntaş, the Turkish Ambassador to Zagreb, expressed her gratitude and joy in commemorating the 101st founding anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye in her speech. Stating that the Republic holds great significance, particularly for young individuals and women, Altuntaş continued:

"The achievements made in areas such as education, employment, and political participation have allowed our women to serve as strong role models for our children and make a positive impact on society. Last week's treacherous terrorist attack against TAI, one of the leading companies in our national defence industry, deeply saddened us all. I wish Allah's mercy upon our martyrs and a speedy recovery for those injured by this heinous attack. As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared, 'The dirty hands that are reaching out to Türkiye will definitely be broken, and no structure, terrorist organisation, or evil force will be able to achieve their ambitions.'"

Montenegro

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović of Montenegro stated in his speech at the reception hosted by the Turkish Embassy in Podgorica that the grounds for Türkiye's modernisation and development were established on October 29, 1923. Stating that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was one of the most important reformers of his time, Ibrahimović said that Türkiye has become an important regional power under the leadership of President Erdoğan.

Ibrahimović expressed that they see Türkiye as a significant ally and said, "Today, there is virtually no domain in which we do not collaborate. Substantive political relations have had a beneficial impact on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure, security, health, education, and culture. The Turkish Chamber of Commerce, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and the Yunus Emre Institute, whose activities in Montenegro we value, are the other institutions that encourage this cooperation."

The Millennium Bridge in Podgorica was illuminated with the colours of the Turkish flag in the evening.

Romania

A reception was held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The reception organised by the Embassy of Türkiye in Bucharest and hosted by Ambassador Özgür Kıvanç Altan was also attended by Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu and Romanian Minister of Interior Catalin Predoiu.

After the reception held at the Ateneul Roman Opera Hall, the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra gave a concert.

Minister Predoiu, who gave a speech at the reception attended by approximately 1000 people, ended his speech with the words "Long live the Republic, long live the Turkish nation" in Turkish.

Belgium

The reception, hosted by Bekir Uysal, the Turkish Ambassador to Brussels, started with a moment of silence in honour of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, his comrades-in-arms, and the citizens who lost their lives in terrorist attacks.

The event featured President Erdoğan's video message following the singing of the Turkish and British national anthems. In his speech, Ambassador Uysal mentioned Türkiye's diplomatic and military achievements in different geographies of the world and the humanitarian aid it has delivered since its foundation and stated, "We owe this evolution to our Republic."

Highlighting that this year commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Turkish community's presence in Belgium through the Labour Agreement, Uysal remarked, "The progress in our bilateral political and economic relations is promising."

The reception continued with the presentation of TRT's documentary "A Suitcase 60 Years" and continued with a music concert by young Turkish conservatory students. Many esteemed Turkish and international guests present at the reception were treated to a variety of Turkish delicacies.

Greece

The 101st anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye was commemorated in Athens, the capital of Greece, through receptions graciously hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Athens, Çağatay Erciyes, at the Embassy residence both at noon and in the evening.

Approximately 800 individuals took part in the celebrations, including representatives from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various public institutions, heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Athens, military attachés, artists, academics, business professionals, and both citizens and compatriots.

Present at the celebration were Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Papadopoulou, Head of the Hellenic Intelligence Agency (EYP) Themistoklis Demiris, Deputy Government Spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni, Governor of the Bank of Greece Yannis Sturnaras, and US Ambassador to Athens George Tsunis.

The celebration featured President Erdoğan's October 29 Republic Day video message following the singing of the Turkish and Greek national anthems.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Erciyes remarked that 101 years following its foundation, the Republic of Türkiye stands as a robust, accountable, and engaged participant in the global community, characterised by its resilient economy, vibrant and educated youth, and firm democratic principles.

Erciyes expressed gratitude for the messages of condolence and solidarity directed to the Embassy following the terrorist attack on TAI and addressed the topic of Turkish-Greek relations in his remarks.

Stating that the cooperation between the two countries is in the common interest of both, Ambassador Erciyes reminded that President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, acting in accordance with this vision, met 6 times in the last 16 months.

Additionally, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, a reception was held in Yatsı Köy by the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini with the participation of approximately 3 thousand cognates.

Aykut Ünal, Türkiye's Consul General to Komotini, expressed that they see it as an honour to host this event and come together with the cognates in Greece.

Referring to October 29, 1923, the day the Republic of Türkiye was founded, Ünal recalled Atatürk's speech following the proclamation of the Republic.

Ünal reminded that Atatürk stated "the Turkish nation has high capabilities" and expressed his belief that the Republic of Türkiye would be "happy, prosperous, and victorious."

Continuing his speech by commemorating Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms with respect and gratitude, Ünal also touched upon the relations between Türkiye and Greece.

Following the speech of Ünal, President Erdoğan's message for the 101st anniversary was displayed.

101st anniversary of the Republic special video attracted great attention from the participants at the reception.

In addition to Consul General Ünal, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Minority in Western Thrace and Elected Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif, Elected Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa, Friendship Equality and Peace Party (FEP) Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu, FEP Party Honorary Chairman Işık Ahmet, cognate members of parliament Hüseyin Zeybek and Özgür Ferhat along with representatives of Turkish minority institutions and organisations have also attended the reception.

Bulgaria

The Embassy of Türkiye in Sofia organised a reception in a hotel in the capital Sofia on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

Among the participants of the reception were Bulgaria's Minister of Interior Atanas Ilkov, Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov, Minister of Justice Mariya Pavlova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova, Grand Mufti of Muslims in Bulgaria Mustafa Aliş Haci, members of parliament, diplomats, and representatives of military missions in Sofia, and cultural, artistic, and literary figures who support Türkiye.

The celebration in Sofia commenced with the Turkish National Anthem and the Bulgarian National Anthem.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Sofia Mehmet Sait Uyanık, who hosted the celebration, said: "On this happy day, we commemorate the founder of our Republic, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms with gratitude, and we celebrate the achievements of the Republic they passed on to us with enthusiasm."

At the event, after the video message of President Erdoğan was shown, Ambassador Uyanık cut the cake specially prepared for the 101st anniversary of the Republic.

Switzerland

A reception was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day and the 101st anniversary of the Republic.

The reception was hosted by Türkiye's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva, Ambassador Burak Akçapar, Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation, Ambassador Alparslan Acarsoy, and Consul General of Türkiye in Geneva, İpek Zeytinoğlu Özkan.

Ambassador Hakan Kıvanç, Special Representative of the UN Geneva Office for the Alliance of Civilisations, Turkish Red Crescent President Fatma Meriç Ylmaz, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Representative in Geneva Kemal Köprülü, foreign diplomats, representatives of international organisations in Geneva, Turkish citizens, and other guests attended the reception at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) of the UN.

The reception began with a minute of silence, followed by the Turkish National Anthem.

During his remarks, Ambassador Akçapar expressed gratitude to everyone who came to the event organised for this significant day.

Akçapar said, "We take great pride in the accomplishments of our Republic. The event, hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Bern, Emine Ece Özbayoğlu Acarsoy, and Consul General in Zurich, Fazlı Çorman, was attended by foreign diplomats, the President of the Turkish Association in Switzerland (ITT), Suat Şahin, representatives of international organisations in Bern, members of the Swiss Turkish community, and various other guests.

During her speech, Ambassador Acarsoy expressed gratitude to the guests for their presence at the event and noted that they are joyfully celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic.

Acarsoy, whose term of office in Switzerland has concluded, expressed her gratitude for the support she received from the Swiss authorities and the Turkish community during her tenure.

Albania

A reception was held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

Albana Koçiu, the Albanian Minister of Health and Social Protection, as well as many other guests and representatives of institutions, ambassadors, and representatives from Turkish bodies in the country, attended the reception that Turkish Ambassador to Tirana Tayyar Kağan Atay hosted.

The event started with the Turkish National Anthem and the Albanian National Anthem, and the video message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was screened.

During his address at the ceremony, Ambassador Atay described the relationship between Türkiye and Albania as special.

Referring to the recent visits of President Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Fidan to Albania, Atay said that 2024 is shaping up to be a highly productive year. On the other hand, during the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, the Polytechnic University building, located in the heart of Tirana, was illuminated with a projection of the Turkish flag.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović, Chairman of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović, ministers, diplomatic representatives of different countries, embassy staff, and many other guests attended the reception at the Embassy of Türkiye in Sarajevo.

In the reception, which commenced with the Turkish National Anthem and the National Anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was presented.

In his speech, Turkish Ambassador to Sarajevo Sadık Babür Girgin thanked the guests for coming to the reception. The reception also featured the opening of a photo exhibition featuring Türkiye's leading projects and significant events.

On the other hand, local officials attended a reception hosted by the Consulate General in Banja Luka.

During his speech, Consul General Can Aygün stated that Türkiye is a nation that continues to grow in strength and has significant opportunities in a variety of fields.

Aygün stated that Türkiye places significant importance on the Balkans region and advocates for the stability, prosperity, and partnership between peoples in the region.

Serbia

The reception organised by the Embassy of Türkiye in Belgrade was attended by local officials as well as diplomatic representatives of other countries and invited guests.

In his speech, Turkish Ambassador to Belgrade, Hami Aksoy, stated that under the leadership of President Erdoğan, Türkiye has made significant strides and achieved numerous successes.

Asserting that their foreign policy objective is to promote peace, stability, and prosperity, Aksoy stated that "Geopolitical turbulence is exacerbated by Islamophobia, xenophobia, irregular migration, climate change, and the deterioration of food and energy security. The most recent example of this is seen in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially Gaza. Israel must be stopped and compelled to accept a permanent ceasefire so that the destruction ends."

Aksoy declared that his tenure as ambassador to Serbia will conclude soon and that the two nations' bilateral relations are at a high level.

Croatia

Local officials and many guests attended the reception organised by the Embassy of Türkiye in Zagreb.

Nurdan Erpulat Altuntaş, the Turkish Ambassador to Zagreb, expressed her gratitude and joy in commemorating the 101st founding anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye in her speech. Stating that the Republic holds great significance, particularly for young individuals and women, Altuntaş continued:

"The achievements made in areas such as education, employment, and political participation have allowed our women to serve as strong role models for our children and make a positive impact on society. Last week's treacherous terrorist attack against TAI, one of the leading companies in our national defence industry, deeply saddened us all. I wish Allah's mercy upon our martyrs and a speedy recovery for those injured by this heinous attack. As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared, 'The dirty hands that are reaching out to Türkiye will definitely be broken, and no structure, terrorist organisation, or evil force will be able to achieve their ambitions.'"

Montenegro

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović of Montenegro stated in his speech at the reception hosted by the Turkish Embassy in Podgorica that the grounds for Türkiye's modernisation and development were established on October 29, 1923. Stating that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was one of the most important reformers of his time, Ibrahimović said that Türkiye has become an important regional power under the leadership of President Erdoğan.

Ibrahimović expressed that they see Türkiye as a significant ally and said, "Today, there is virtually no domain in which we do not collaborate. Substantive political relations have had a beneficial impact on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure, security, health, education, and culture. The Turkish Chamber of Commerce, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and the Yunus Emre Institute, whose activities in Montenegro we value, are the other institutions that encourage this cooperation."

The Millennium Bridge in Podgorica was illuminated with the colours of the Turkish flag in the evening.

Romania

A reception was held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The reception organised by the Embassy of Türkiye in Bucharest and hosted by Ambassador Özgür Kıvanç Altan was also attended by Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu and Romanian Minister of Interior Catalin Predoiu.

After the reception held at the Ateneul Roman Opera Hall, the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra gave a concert.

Minister Predoiu, who gave a speech at the reception attended by approximately 1000 people, ended his speech with the words "Long live the Republic, long live the Turkish nation" in Turkish.

Belgium

The reception, hosted by Bekir Uysal, the Turkish Ambassador to Brussels, started with a moment of silence in honour of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, his comrades-in-arms, and the citizens who lost their lives in terrorist attacks.

The event featured President Erdoğan's video message following the singing of the Turkish and British national anthems. In his speech, Ambassador Uysal mentioned Türkiye's diplomatic and military achievements in different geographies of the world and the humanitarian aid it has delivered since its foundation and stated, "We owe this evolution to our Republic."

Highlighting that this year commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Turkish community's presence in Belgium through the Labour Agreement, Uysal remarked, "The progress in our bilateral political and economic relations is promising."

The reception continued with the presentation of TRT's documentary "A Suitcase 60 Years" and continued with a music concert by young Turkish conservatory students. Many esteemed Turkish and international guests present at the reception were treated to a variety of Turkish delicacies.

Greece

The 101st anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye was commemorated in Athens, the capital of Greece, through receptions graciously hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Athens, Çağatay Erciyes, at the Embassy residence both at noon and in the evening.

Approximately 800 individuals took part in the celebrations, including representatives from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various public institutions, heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Athens, military attachés, artists, academics, business professionals, and both citizens and compatriots.

Present at the celebration were Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Papadopoulou, Head of the Hellenic Intelligence Agency (EYP) Themistoklis Demiris, Deputy Government Spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni, Governor of the Bank of Greece Yannis Sturnaras, and US Ambassador to Athens George Tsunis.

The celebration featured President Erdoğan's October 29 Republic Day video message following the singing of the Turkish and Greek national anthems.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Erciyes remarked that 101 years following its foundation, the Republic of Türkiye stands as a robust, accountable, and engaged participant in the global community, characterised by its resilient economy, vibrant and educated youth, and firm democratic principles.

Erciyes expressed gratitude for the messages of condolence and solidarity directed to the Embassy following the terrorist attack on TAI and addressed the topic of Turkish-Greek relations in his remarks.

Stating that the cooperation between the two countries is in the common interest of both, Ambassador Erciyes reminded that President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, acting in accordance with this vision, met 6 times in the last 16 months.

Additionally, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, a reception was held in Yatsı Köy by the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini with the participation of approximately 3 thousand cognates.

Aykut Ünal, Türkiye's Consul General to Komotini, expressed that they see it as an honour to host this event and come together with the cognates in Greece.

Referring to October 29, 1923, the day the Republic of Türkiye was founded, Ünal recalled Atatürk's speech following the proclamation of the Republic.

Ünal reminded that Atatürk stated "the Turkish nation has high capabilities" and expressed his belief that the Republic of Türkiye would be "happy, prosperous, and victorious."

Continuing his speech by commemorating Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms with respect and gratitude, Ünal also touched upon the relations between Türkiye and Greece.

Following the speech of Ünal, President Erdoğan's message for the 101st anniversary was displayed.

101st anniversary of the Republic special video attracted great attention from the participants at the reception.

Bulgaria

The Embassy of Türkiye in Sofia organised a reception in a hotel in the capital Sofia on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

Among the participants of the reception were Bulgaria's Minister of Interior Atanas Ilkov, Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov, Minister of Justice Mariya Pavlova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova, Grand Mufti of Muslims in Bulgaria Mustafa Aliş Haci, members of parliament, diplomats, and representatives of military missions in Sofia, and cultural, artistic, and literary figures who support Türkiye.

The celebration in Sofia commenced with the Turkish National Anthem and the Bulgarian National Anthem.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Sofia Mehmet Sait Uyanık, who hosted the celebration, said: "On this happy day, we commemorate the founder of our Republic, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms with gratitude, and we celebrate the achievements of the Republic they passed on to us with enthusiasm."

At the event, after the video message of President Erdoğan was shown, Ambassador Uyanık cut the cake specially prepared for the 101st anniversary of the Republic.

Switzerland

A reception was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day and the 101st anniversary of the Republic.

The reception was hosted by Türkiye's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva, Ambassador Burak Akçapar, Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation, Ambassador Alparslan Acarsoy, and Consul General of Türkiye in Geneva, İpek Zeytinoğlu Özkan.

A ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Berlin on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day.

The event, which was organised as part of the events marking the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, began with the Turkish National Anthem and the national anthem of Germany.

During the ceremony where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was shared, Ahmet Başar Şen, the Turkish Ambassador to Berlin, stated: "We express our gratitude and appreciation to Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of our Republic, his comrades, and all our beloved martyrs and heroic veterans for our beautiful homeland, freedom, full independence, and democracy."

Stating that the Republic of Türkiye is the name of a country that was born from the ashes of a collapsed global empire and rose to prominence among the world states in a short time with its modernisation moves, Şen said: "Now we are in the Century of Türkiye. When we say the Century of Türkiye, we are not departing from a simple dream. Drawing its strength from its history, which it always remembers with dignity, Türkiye is building its future vision on the basis of this ideal in every conceivable field from security to foreign policy, from defence industry to economic growth targets, from the healthcare sector to education and science."

At the reception, the exhibition "At'Nağme" by artist Süleyman Saim Tekcan, who received the 2022 Presidential Culture and Art Grand Award in painting, was launched.

Chad

A reception was held in N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, to mark the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye.

Fatime Aldjineh Garfa, Minister Delegate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chadians Abroad; and senior bureaucrats as well as ambassadors and guests attended the event hosted by Cem Utkan, Türkiye's Ambassador to N'Djamena.

The event started with the singing of the national anthems of the two countries, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was shared.

In his speech, Ambassador Utkan said, "October 29th marks not only the milestone of this quest for independence but also the beginning of a transformation that propels Türkiye into a future relying on the values of equality, freedom, justice, secularism, and the rule of law."

Pointing to the strong relations between Türkiye and Chad, Utkan said that the trade volume between the two countries exceeded 320 million dollars in 2023.

Regarding the recent terrorist attack in Chad, Utkan said, "I would like to express our solidarity and condolences for the heinous terrorist attack targeting Chadian security forces."

Various delicacies from Turkish cuisine were served during the reception that was held with the participation of a large number of invitees.

The program ended with a collective photo shoot.

Czechia

October 29 Republic Day was celebrated with a reception at the National Museum, one of the most magnificent buildings in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

The reception hosted by Ambassador Egemen Bağış and his wife Beyhan Bağış was honoured by former President Vaclav Klaus of Czechia, Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Kozak of Czechia, former Prime Ministers of Czechia Andrej Babis, Jiri Paroubek, Jan Fisher and Petr Necas, as well as MPs, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps.

The Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Italian pianist Guila Mazzoni and Turkish-American electric violinist Giselle Tavillson took the stage at the reception, where Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The event was presented by Oylum Talu.

Attending the reception as the guest of honour, Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Kozak of Czechia condemned the terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) last week and gave a message of unity against terrorism.

Deputy Minister Kozak thanked Ambassador Egemen Bağış for his great efforts in advancing bilateral relations, especially in doubling the bilateral trade volume.

Ambassador Bağış said that he was happy to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the Czech Republic with great enthusiasm at the National Museum, one of the most historical places in the capital.

Egypt

A reception was held at the Türkiye's Embassy in Cairo on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day.

The reception was organised by the Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Şen, and was graced by the presence of Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, along with numerous Egyptian and foreign dignitaries, as well as representatives from various diplomatic missions.

During his address at the event, Ambassador Şen extended a warm welcome to the attendees and commended the significant and strengthening ties between Türkiye and Egypt in recent months.

South Sudan

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception held in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Juba, Erdem Mutaf, hosted a reception at a hotel in the capital, Juba.The event was attended by Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior of South Sudan, a number of ministers and senior bureaucrats, as well as ambassadors and invited guests.

The event started with the Turkish National Anthems of Türkiye and South Sudan, followed by the video message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Speaking on behalf of the government of South Sudan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Monday Semaya Kumba expressed their appreciation for Türkiye's support to South Sudan in various fields.

Mr. Kumba expressed his full belief that the cooperation between the two countries will continue in the future and thanked Ambassador Mutaf for all the projects and activities he carried out during his tenure.

Ambassador Mutaf also provided information on the process of the establishment of the Republic and the reforms carried out by the country's founder and first President, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Guests were served delicacies from the Turkish cuisine at the reception. At the end of the event, the participants posed for a family photo. 

Georgia

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception in Georgia.

The Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi held a reception to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye and Republic Day on October 29.

The reception, hosted by Ambassador Ali Kaan Orbay at a hotel, was attended by Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian parliamentarians, government officials, diplomats, representatives of Turkish institutions in Georgia, Turkish citizens, and many guests.

At the reception, where national anthems were performed, a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was screened for guests.

In his speech, Ambassador Orbay expressed pleasure in celebrating the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic in Georgia, honouring Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms with mercy, love, and respect.

Orbay stated that in spite of all security challenges in the region, Türkiye remains a force for peace and stability both locally and internationally.

Orbay emphasised that a terrorist attack was orchestrated against the Turkish Aerospace Industries Corporation (TAI), stating, "We will neither compromise our freedom, security, peace, nor prosperity." We will persist in our fight against terrorism with unwavering resolve."

Guests were served delicacies from the Turkish cuisine at the reception.

A Turkish flag was projected on the hotel building hosting the reception.

On the other hand, Tbilisi Tower, a prominent symbol of the capital Tbilisi, was lit up in the colours of the Turkish flag to mark October 29 Republic Day.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze of Georgia congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and October 29, Republic Day.

According to the congratulatory letter published by the Georgian Prime Ministry, Kobakhidze wished President Erdoğan and the brotherly Turkish people peace and prosperity.

Kobakhidze noted the dynamic development of relations between the two countries in recent years, which contributed to the creation of new opportunities in the region and the implementation of strategically important projects.

Noting that Türkiye supports Georgia, Kobakhidze said, "I am grateful for Türkiye's unwavering support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as the Euro-Atlantic integration."

Italy

October 29 Republic Day celebrations held across Italy and Malta.

A reception was held by the Turkish Embassy in Rome on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The reception was held at the Embassy residence and hosted by Turkish Ambassador to Rome Ömer Gücük. Ambassador Gücük and Undersecretary of the Embassy, Ayça Sarıtekin; Air Attaché of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Can Engür, and his spouse, Nergis Karaman Engür, welcomed the guests one by one at the door.

The reception was attended by Giulio Tremonti, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies; Ufuk Ulutaş, Ambassador of Türkiye to the Vatican; Rashad Aslanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Rome; Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Vatican, Ilgar Mukhtarov; Palestinian Ambassador to Rome, Abeer Odeh; TRNC Representative to Rome, Mustafa Kemal Beyazbayram; renowned director Ferzan Özpetek, along with approximately a thousand guests from the realms of business, art, politics, and diplomacy.

The reception commenced with the playing of the national anthems of both countries, followed by a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which was screened in honour of October 29, Republic Day.

In his speech delivered in Italian, Ambassador Gücük expressed his condolences to the five citizens who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack on TAI in Ankara. He stated, "I would like to thank once again our allies and friends for their support to our country in the fight against terrorism, especially the Italian authorities for their condolences."

"On this occasion, I once again honour the founder of our Republic, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades, and our treasured martyrs and veterans with deep respect and gratitude," Gücük stated.

Gücük said that 2024 has seen significant global developments, noting, "We are experiencing a time marked by economic challenges, wars and armed conflicts, humanitarian crises, and an urgent need for peace, respect for fundamental human rights, and adherence to international law." During this time, our country persists in advancing across various sectors, grounded in the universal principles it upholds. Simultaneously, it endorses all constructive efforts aimed at advancing regional and global common good, fostering peace, and resolving conflicts through a humanitarian and comprehensive approach."

Malta

On October 29, Republic Day, a reception was held in Malta at the Malta Hilton Hotel, hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Valletta, Erdeniz Şen.

According to information obtained by an AA correspondent from diplomatic sources, the reception was attended by many guests, including President Myriam Spiteri Debono of Malta, former President George Vella, for the National Heritage, the Arts, and the Local Government Owen Bonnici, opposition Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech.

President Debono congratulated the October 29, Republic Day.

Additionally, the Triton Fountain, one of the landmarks in the centre of Malta's capital, Valetta, was once again illuminated with red-white lights, as it was in previous years, for the October 29 Republic Day.

Sweden

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

At the reception held in the historic Norra Latin building, Türkiye's Ambassador to Stockholm Yönet Can Tezel and Military Attaché Colonel Serhat Aydın welcomed the guests at the door.

The reception was attended by high-level military representatives of different countries in Sweden, representatives of Turkish non-governmental organisations (NGOs), embassy staff, and many guests.

In his remarks, Ambassador Tezel congratulated the Turkish community living in Sweden and the entire Turkish nation on Republic Day.

Tezel then read the October 29, Republic Day message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

On the reception, guests were treated to delicacies from Turkish cuisine.

Ireland

A reception was held in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, to mark October 29 Republic Day and the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The reception hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Dublin, Hakan Olcay, at the Herbert Park Hotel was attended by guests from the Irish Parliament, the Senate, and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, as well as the heads of diplomatic missions in the country and Turkish citizens.

Speaking at the event, which started with the national anthems of Türkiye and Ireland, Ambassador Olcay read the congratulatory message of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In his remarks, Olcay expressed condolences for those who lost their lives in last week's terrorist attack in Ankara.

Senator Gerry Horkan, who spoke on behalf of Ireland at the reception, stated that the diplomatic relations between the two nations were at their highest and that trade relations were strong.

Additionally, the Turkish flag was projected on the Samuel Beckett Bridge, one of the symbols of Dublin, for Republic Day.

Russia

A reception was held in Moscow, the capital of Russia, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleksandr Pankin of Russia, as well as Embassy staff, representatives of foreign missions and various institutions, along with numerous guests, attended the reception hosted by Türkiye's Embassy in Moscow.

Delivering a speech at the event commenced by the national anthems of the two countries, Ambassador Bilgiç condemned last week's terrorist attack on the Kahramankazan facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

"No one should have any doubt that the Republic of Türkiye, which was founded with the blood of our martyrs, will live forever, as the Great Leader Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said," Bilgiç noted and thanked Russia for its solidarity concerning this terrorist attack.

Pointing out that the Republic of Türkiye was founded with great sacrifices after the War of Independence, Bilgiç said, "On this date, when the fate of our nation changed, we declared to the whole world that Turks will live free forever."

Bilgiç reminded that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the BRICS Leaders Summit held last week in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan within the Russian Federation, highlighting that it was one of the strongest examples of cooperation between the two countries.

Bilgiç also made the following remarks: "The cornerstone of our relations is the mutual respect and cooperation between our countries, which was established as a result of the strong will of the leaders of both countries. This enables an intensive and sincere dialogue in every field and makes our cooperation possible."

At the event, where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message was displayed, delicacies from the cuisine of Gaziantep were served along with live performances of Turkish music pieces.

At the closure of the event, the book "A Fairer World is Possible" penned by President Erdoğan and translated into Russian under the coordination of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, along with the booklet on the symbols of Türkiye were presented to foreign diplomats and guests.

Mexico

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated in Mexico.

Representatives of diplomatic missions and Turkish residents participated in a reception held in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico.

Murat Salim Esenli, Ambassador of Türkiye to Mexico City, said in his speech: "We joyfully celebrated the 101st anniversary of our Republic alongside our citizens, our Mexican friends from the administration and parliament, business people, representatives from the arts and academia, and the diplomatic corps."

Colombia

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated in Colombia.

Representatives of diplomatic missions and Turkish residents participated in a reception held in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

Turkish Ambassador to Bogota, Beste Pehlivan Sun, said, "We are proudly celebrating the 101st anniversary of the founding of our Republic. We commemorate all our martyrs and veterans, especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, with respect, gratitude, and mercy."

At Salitre Magico, a prominent amusement park in the capital city of Bogota, the Turkish flag was raised in celebration of Republic Day on October 29.

Tunisia

A reception was held in Tunisia to mark the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye.

Ambassador Ahmet Misbah Demircan attended the reception that the Turkish Embassy in Tunisia organised. Habib Abid, the Tunisian Minister of Environment, and Mohamed bin Ayadi, the secretary of State, were present at the reception along with embassy staff, representatives of foreign missions and various institutions and a sizable number of guests.

The event started with the singing of the national anthems of the two countries, and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message on October 29, Republic Day was screened.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Demircan stated, "Türkiye stands at the forefront with its young population, economy, global diplomatic activity, and contributions to international peace. We will persist in our endeavours without pause to elevate our Republic, which we founded at significant sacrifice, beyond the level of modern civilisations. We will enhance our standing as a nation with an exemplary democracy, a model economy, diplomacy that garners attention, and a national unity and brotherhood that are upheld with the utmost strength."

A variety of Turkish cuisine delicacies was served to guests as the event concluded.

Algeria

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception held in Algeria.

The event was hosted by the Turkish Ambassador to Algeria, Muhammet Mücahit Küçükyılmaz, and attended by the Algerian Minister of Transport, Mohamed El Habib Zahana, as the guest of honour.

The reception, which was attended by about 500 people, including the diplomatic corps, local figures, and Turkish citizens, continued with a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the Turkish National Anthem.

In his speech at the event, Ambassador Küçükyılmaz said that the Republic established under the leadership of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms 101 years ago was the greatest victory of the Turkish nation's struggle for independence and freedom.

Küçükyılmaz underlined that Algeria, similar to Türkiye, was a country that risked paying a heavy price and eventually succeeded in its struggle against colonialism. He also noted that this situation united Algeria and Türkiye in a similar destiny.

During his speech, Ambassador Küçükyılmaz shared the video "Commemorating Gaza in 2040," released by the Directorate of Communications, about the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

In addition to the highly acclaimed performances of Turkish ney, marbling, and calligraphy artists, the music group "Cezayirli Teslim" performed the Algerian and Turkish national anthems as well as a repertoire of Turkish, Algerian, and Andalusian pieces for the guests.

Mauritania

The 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception in Mauritania's capital, Nouakchott.

The event, which was hosted by Burhan Köroğlu, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Nouakchott, at a hotel in Nouakchott yesterday, was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, as well as high-level bureaucrats and MPs, ambassadors, invited guests, and citizens living in Mauritania.

The event started with the singing of the National Anthems of Türkiye and Mauritania, followed by a video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Ambassador Köroğlu said, "The Republic of Türkiye, which is the last of the Turkish states established one after the other for centuries and which will hopefully last as long as the world lasts, was founded on October 29th."

Stating that the Turkish state is struggling against internal and external enemies in order to establish democracy at home, Köroğlu said that the Turkish state has added modern science and thought to the Ottoman Empire's legacy of civilisation. He stated that by incorporating thought elements, the ideal of rising above contemporary civilisation is reinforced.

Köroğlu underlined that the historical relations between Mauritania and Türkiye, which date back to the Ottoman period, are at a very good level.He emphasised the countries' shared stance on the Palestinian issue, as well as the fact that unless the Palestinian issue is resolved, the path to true peace in the Middle East and even the world will be blocked.

Various delicacies from Turkish cuisine were served to the participants at the reception, which was attended by a large number of guests.

At the end of the event, the participants posed for a family photo.

Hungary

The target of "100 events on the 100th anniversary," set within the scope of the "2024 Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year," announced within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Hungary, was met early.

The concert performed by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day, was the 100th event of the 2024 Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year.

Following the Turkish and Hungarian national anthems, the CSO performed a diverse selection of musical works by Turkish composers.

Gülşen Karanis Ekşioğlu, Ambassador of Türkiye to Budapest, spoke at the opening of the concert, which was also broadcast by the Hungarian State Television. She expressed their pride in reaching approximately 1 million people through 100 events held in 14 cities across Hungary and thanked all the contributing institutions, especially the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Yunus Emre Institute (YEE).

Hungarian Defence Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky addressed the audience as the guest of honour at the event, which saw the presence of ministers, secretaries of state, senior officials, and members of the diplomatic corps from the Hungarian government.

After the concert, a reception was organised with a selection of delicacies from Turkish cuisine.

Sudan

The 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye was celebrated with a reception held in Port Sudan, Sudan.

The Turkish Ambassador to Khartoum, Fatih Yıldız, hosted a reception at a café, which was attended by Sudanese Minister of Health Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Minister of Interior Khalil Pasha Sairin, along with senior bureaucrats, ambassadors, and other guests.

The event commenced with the playing of the Turkish National Anthem and the Sudanese National Anthem, and guests received the written version of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's video message.

During his speech, Ambassador Yıldız said, "As the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye, we are very proud to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of our Republic in Sudan, our second home, as our Sudanese brothers and sisters always tell us."

Yıldız remarked that the spirit of resolute struggle demonstrated by Sudan to maintain unity during this extraordinary time was reminiscent of the period of the foundation of Türkiye. He affirmed that Türkiye and its people will persist in supporting Sudan and its citizens in their steadfast resolve.

Various delicacies from Turkish cuisine were served to the participants at the reception, which saw a significant turnout of guests.

The event ended with a group photo shoot. 

Permanent Mission to the UN

The Permanent Mission of Türkiye to the United Nations hosted a reception to mark October 29, Republic Day.

The reception, hosted by Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the UN, at the Turkevi in New York, was attended by Deputy Secretary Generals, permanent representatives, diplomats, and guests from the Turkish-American community.

The reception started with the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, followed by the video message sent by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the missions abroad on the occasion of October 29, Republic Day.

In his speech, Ambassador Yıldız stated that the Republic has many meanings for the Turkish people:

"The Republic represents an inclusive national identity and self-confidence based on a strong history, geography, and culture. Full independence means freedom, national sovereignty, human rights, equality, and women's empowerment. Self-sufficiency means economic, social, and industrial development. The Republic is also about access to education, health, and public services. Finally, the Republic means an indivisible, democratic, secular, and peaceful state that prioritises the rule of law, good governance, rationality, and sustainable development."

Google designed a ‘doodle’ featuring the Turkish Flag for October 29, Republic Day.

Google celebrated Republic Day on October 29 with a special doodle designed for the occasion on its homepage. Upon clicking, the doodle led internet users to a page showcasing news and information regarding October 29, Republic Day.

The page reads, "Today's Doodle celebrates Türkiye's Republic Day."
