The National Security Council convened on March 20, 2025, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meeting,
1. The Council was briefed on the determined, resolute, and successful operations conducted at home and abroad against all types of threats and dangers to our national unity and solidarity, as well as our survival, particularly the terrorist organisations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH, along with recent international developments.
2. It was stated that by achieving the goal of a terrorism-free Türkiye as a result of the sacrifice of our beloved martyrs and veterans, our nation's fortitude and determination, and our state's resilience, our national unity and solidarity would be strengthened further, the peace and welfare of all our citizens would increase, our country's socioeconomic improvement and development process would accelerate, and our democracy would be reinforced.
In this context, it was stated that the process of dissolution and disarmament of the separatist terrorist organisation, as well as the elimination of all of its extensions, would be closely and meticulously monitored.
3. It was noted that Türkiye would continue to support the new administration's efforts in Syria to ensure lasting peace and stability, as well as to eradicate all terrorist organisations in the country; it was emphasised that provocations aimed at destabilising Syria were carefully monitored and that the approach aimed at preserving Syria's territorial integrity, all religious, sectarian, and ethnic identities, and its unitary structure would be maintained.
4. The latest developments on the Palestinian issue were discussed; it was pointed out that Israel should immediately return to the ceasefire regime by putting an end to the genocide, invasion and occupation policies it has been persistently imposing and that humanitarian aid should be delivered to the region in an unhindered manner and an adequate amount; it was stated that the legitimate measures to be taken for the people of Gaza to live freely in their homeland in security, peace and prosperity, as well as the efforts to restore the devastated Gaza, would continue.
5. It was emphasised that Türkiye is pleased to have reached a process that prioritises negotiations and diplomatic efforts in the Russia-Ukraine War and that Türkiye would continue to undertake initiatives to conclude the process with a fair and dignified agreement and to restore lasting peace in the following period.
6. Our unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina was reaffirmed, and it was emphasised that Türkiye would continue to closely monitor all developments that could have a negative impact on the peaceful atmosphere in the Balkans and endeavour to uphold peace and stability in the region with an inclusive and embracing approach.
7. In addition to the opportunities provided by Türkiye's geopolitical location and its superior military power and capabilities, as well as its contributions to the alliances it is a part of by benefiting from its advanced and productive defence industry, it was stated that Türkiye would serve the welfare, peace and tranquillity of our entire region by providing such contributions to other partners with whom it has the opportunity to cooperate in the field of security and stability.
In this process, the revitalisation of Türkiye-European Union relations in general and Türkiye's indispensable role in shaping Europe's security plans were particularly emphasised.
