“No one can wag their finger at the judiciary under the pretext of criticism”

Speaking at the 157th Foundation Anniversary Ceremony of the Council of State, President Erdoğan said: “It is not only wrong but also irresponsible to target the members of the judiciary, who endeavor for justice, sometimes by involving their families and children, and especially to boo them in public squares. Criticism can be made with courtesy, but no one can wag their finger at the judiciary under the pretext of criticism.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the 157th Foundation Anniversary Ceremony of the Council of State in Ankara.

“It is not only wrong but also irresponsible to target the members of the judiciary, who endeavor for justice, sometimes by involving their families and children, and especially to boo them in public squares. Putting the judiciary under pressure cannot be justified in any way. Everyone, be they politicians or journalists, should help the judiciary to function smoothly within the framework of the constitution and laws, and to ensure that any crimes are held accountable. Surely, criticism can be made with courtesy, but no one can wag their finger at the judiciary under the pretext of criticism,” President Erdoğan said.
