Statement on the baseless news reports that the “Presidency has appealed” against the decision made by the 10th Chamber of the Council of State to annul the Cabinet Decree dated November 24, 1934, and numbered 2/1589 that turned Hagia Sophia into a museum:
The news reports by some media outlets indicating that the “Presidency has appealed against the 10th Chamber of the Council of State’s annulment decision regarding the status of the Hagia Sophia Mosque" certainly do not reflect the truth.
Likewise, it is only the Presidency that has the right to appeal against the annulment decision made by the aforementioned Chamber on July 02, 2020, and the Presidency has not appealed against the said decision. The decision was therefore finalized. Other persons or institutions do not have the right to appeal in the case.
