The National Security Council convened on April 4, 2024, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meeting;
1. The Council was briefed on the operations that have been carried out with determination, resolve, and success at home and abroad against all types of threats and dangers to our national unity and solidarity, as well as our survival, including the terrorist organisations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO, and DAESH.
2. Our pleasure regarding the enhancement of the strategic cooperation mechanism with our neighbour Iraq was conveyed and the significance of sustaining joint and multidimensional efforts, particularly in the fields of security, economy, energy, and transportation, with a long-term approach to establishing a prosperous region and future was underscored.
3. The importance of ensuring that terrorist organisations and their supporters will have no place in the future of our region was emphasised, along with the necessity for all actors that support terrorist organisations to exercise prudence and immediately sever all ties with terrorism.
4. It was stated that the attacks of the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG terrorist organisation targeting our citizens living in Europe and our missions were being closely monitored, and the states, which bear the responsibility of preventing such abhorrent acts that expose the separatist terrorist organisation's true nature and holding accountable its members, were once again reminded of the fact that their tolerance of terrorist organisations would eventually result in the deterioration of their public order and ultimately result in them becoming the target of terrorism themselves.
5. It has been stated that as Israel continues the massacre in Gaza despite the decisions of the International Court of Justice and the United Nations Security Council, failure to prevent Israel's attacks and inhumane practices, which disregard international law, will augment the current deterioration of the international system and further call its legitimacy into question.
It was underscored that the repercussions of the massacres, which were witnessed by the world, were to be felt not only by those responsible but also by those who assisted them and that the international community was urged to support our endeavours towards establishing an enduring peace by promptly ceasing the attacks against the people of Gaza and aid organisations, and by delivering comprehensive humanitarian aid to the region.
6. It was emphasised that, the local elections held on March 31, 2024, were conducted in an atmosphere of peace and security, in accordance with our robust democratic tradition, as a result of the prudence displayed by our citizens and the tireless efforts of every institution.
Respectfully submitted to the public's attention.
