Message of ‘Unity of the Century’ from Head of Communications Altun

On the second anniversary of the Disaster of the Century, the Presidency’s Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, shared a message on his social media account.

In his message, Altun expressed:

"On that fateful night when we lived through the disaster of the century, it was not just buildings that collapsed. Our cities were not the only ones devastated. It was not just our brothers and sisters who remained trapped under the rubble…

That night, an entire nation’s heart was buried beneath the ruins. An entire nation struggled to breathe…

Every life we lost took a piece of our hearts with them. Every cry and every plea was etched deep into our souls and minds.

But from the very first moment, we did not falter!
We stood united; we held on tightly, we shouldered the weight of the disaster.
State and nation, we became one, our hearts beating as one.

This tragedy became the story of a nation that kept hope alive in the darkest of times—a nation that wrote a legend of resilience.

Once again, we remember those we lost with mercy and prayers.

And we firmly believe that this nation has always risen from even the greatest destruction, reborn through the spirit of unity and solidarity.

Under the leadership of our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will continue to reconstruct our cities, to restore life, and to nurture hope once again."
