The Symposium "Media's Struggle for Truth in the Gaza War: Violence, Disinformation, and Censorship", organised by the Directorate of Communications, continues on its second day.
The symposium, which commenced in a hotel in Taksim yesterday with opening remarks by Presidency's Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, and Palestine's Ambassador to Ankara, Faed Mustafa, discusses the press members' struggle for truth in the Gaza war, access to accurate information and journalists' safety, as well as the role of international media.
The symposium, which features international members of the media from several countries as speakers, also highlights the importance of the global struggle against disinformation.
While the first day’s sessions addressed "Journalists' Safety in Conflict Zones and Attempts to Suppress and Intimidate Journalists," "The Role of International Media in the Israel-Palestine Conflict: Bias, Manipulation and Censorship," and "The Illusionist Face of Digital Media: The Palestinian Cause,” the themes for today's sessions will be "Suppression and Intimidation of the Truth: A Global Struggle Against Disinformation" and "Global Public Opinion and Civil Society: The Power of Media in Influencing Mass Mobilisation".
The symposium will conclude today with a tour of the "Bulletproof Dreams: Gaza Child Artists Exhibition" for the international members of the press and the participants.
