Large-scale events to be organised in Türkiye and abroad to commemorate July 15

On the seventh anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, our Directorate will organise large-scale commemoration events across the country and abroad.

The Turkish nation's strong national will and resolve will be highlighted in the events with the theme "Heroes of the Century of Türkiye" by commemorating the heroes who, on July 15, sacrificed their lives to defend their homeland and immortalised the epic of national will in history.

The rhetoric of "Heroes of the Homeland," "Heroes of Democracy," "Heroes of the National Will," and "Heroes of the Nation" will be included in domestic events in addition to the Heroes of the Century of Türkiye, and "Victory of Democracy" and "Heroes of the Century of Türkiye" will be brought to the fore through the representatives of our Directorate abroad.

Ankara, İstanbul, Bursa, İzmir, Trabzon, Konya, Sivas, Diyarbakır, and Erzurum will have outdoor displays with LED screens as part of the events in addition to the open-air communication activities taking place across the country.

The spirit of July 15 will be rekindled at the mapping shows in İstanbul Haydarpaşa and Galata.

Three-dimensional LED towers that will be installed in the squares of Ankara Kızılay, İzmir Konak Gündoğdu, İstanbul Bakırköy and Üsküdar will depict the struggles of the heroes of the Century of Türkiye.

The struggle of July 15 and the stories of the heroes of the Century of Türkiye will be recounted on 3D screens in the experience area built in İstanbul's Taksim Square.

With the cooperation of our Directorate and TCDD (Turkish State Railways), the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Train will be adorned with the theme "Heroes of the Century of Türkiye", and a flag will be hung on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge in cooperation with the July 15 Association.

July 15 Victory of Democracy Panel in 6 countries

Our Directorate will organise a panel series in 6 countries to raise awareness of the nation's epic and "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day," commemorating the day on which a treacherous coup attempt against Turkish democracy was thwarted by an epic resistance.

The panels, which will begin in Sweden and Germany on July 13, will continue in Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Belgium, and Serbia on July 15. In the panels, the honourable struggle and the victory of democracy of the cherished nation and heroic security forces against FETO's treacherous coup attempt will be addressed from different perspectives by the panellists.

The purpose of the panels is to effectively explain FETO in all of its facets, to highlight the nation's resistance at the cost of their lives, the struggle of the state, and the victory of democracy, to commemorate the martyrs and veterans, to sustain a sense of national unity and social memory, and to raise the foreign public's awareness of July 15.

FETO will be explained in Times Square

In New York Times Square, English presentations will be displayed on LED screens to draw attention to the shady structure of FETO, and the shoes of the martyrs of July 15 will be exhibited.

On the other hand, nearly 8 thousand projects have been registered by institutions and organisations in the July 15 Project Tracking System, which was created as part of our Directorate's duty of coordination.

In order to ensure the unity of discourse during the commemoration events, our Directorate prepared a comprehensive institutional identity guide, which was shared on our institutional website via the link "kurumsal.15temmuz.gov.tr."

"Those who sought to seize control of Türkiye's next century were defeated"

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated that the seventh anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day would be observed and that the glorious resistance of the Turkish people against FETO on July 15, 2016 had been one of the first signs of the Century of Türkiye.

Emphasising that the nation, which took to the streets seven years ago at the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, soundly defeated those who sought to seize control of Türkiye's next century, Director of Communications Altun said:

"As it has done so throughout history, our glorious nation did not leave its independence and future in the hands of tutelageists, invaders, terrorists, and treasonous networks by displaying great heroism on the night of July 15. With a single rallying cry from our President, the faith-filled hearts of our heroes who came together in the streets, airports, and squares for resistance became the will that kicked off the Century of Türkiye. Hundreds of people were martyred that night for the sake of the homeland. Using the slogan 'Heroes of the Century,' we plan to tell the world about the bravery of our martyrs and veterans in an effort to perpetuate their memory. Once again, we express our gratitude to our veterans and wish Allah's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives on July 15."
