Director of Communications Altun: "Despite all of Israel's obstacles today, Anadolu Agency continues to showcase and will continue to exhibit a magnificent journalism performance in Gaza City."

The fourth exhibition of the international news photography competition "Istanbul Photo Awards 2023," organised by Anadolu Agency (AA), has opened at CSO Ada Ankara.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun emphasised the global prominence of AA's photographs and highlighted the significant impact of AA's photography service as an esteemed media production hub, influencing news production worldwide. Director of Communications Altun said, "We take great pride in this regard. It represents the image of Turkish media on the global stage."

Stating that this brand provided them with the opportunity to engage in reputable work on a global scale, Director of Communications Altun said, "The photographs captured by AA are a vital component and instrument in Türkiye's struggle for the truth. We are talking about a highly productive media factory that generates an impressive average of 4 thousand photographs on a daily basis."

Director of Communications Altun emphasised that AA photographs exemplify exceptional quality in various aspects, not only with their technical dimensions and artistic content but also with their documentary feature.

Director of Communications Altun said that AA captured the difficulties and atrocities that occurred during the Syrian civil war, saying, "What the Syrian civil war entailed and what happened are largely remembered today through AA photographs."

Director of Communications Altun emphasised the importance of AA's efforts in comprehending and communicating reality and truth during the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine War, and, most recently, Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Director of Communications Altun said, "Despite all of Israel's obstacles today, Anadolu Agency continues to showcase and will continue to exhibit a magnificent journalism performance in Gaza City."

"They brought international attention to the oppression by Israel"

Noting that AA cameraman Montaser Al-Sawaf was martyred in Israeli attacks while performing his duty in Gaza, AA photojournalist Mustafa Haruf was a victim of an Israeli attack, and AA photojournalist Ali Jadallah lost his entire family in Israeli attacks, Director of Communications Altun said, "What did these heroes, these qualified people of AA, do? They practised journalism and sought out news, truth, and reality. While doing so, they simultaneously brought international attention to the oppression by Israel and the voice of the oppressed people of Gaza."

Director of Communications Altun stated that Israel, a nation with a history of murdering numerous journalists, has recently been responsible for the deaths of 95 journalists.

Director of Communications Altun underscored the critical nature of confronting Israel's atrocities with utmost determination, stating, "This represents the endeavour of our esteemed President and Türkiye's aspiration for greater strength, together with endeavours to eradicate global atrocities, including Israeli oppression, and ensure regional and international peace."
