“Stratcom Youth: International Young Communicators Forum,” organised in Antalya by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ended.
More than 100 communication faculty students from 42 universities in 13 countries participated in the forum held at the Antalya Training and Social Facility of the Foundation for Strengthening the Organization of Justice.
In her presentation at the “Career in the field of Communication” session, Anadolu Agency Analysis News Editor Zeliha Eliaçık stated that despite her proficiency in three foreign languages, she favoured producing information and nesting in knowledge over specialising in commerce.
Eliaçık stated that a person should know what he or she wants in life and continued as follows: “Throughout my life, I have endeavoured to do the jobs that I believed in and was passionate about. The two dimensions of communications are content and career. I recommend that you continually try new things. Certainly travel abroad. This will provide you with an opportunity to view Türkiye from a distance, as well as authenticity and world knowledge.”
Assoc. Prof. Emel Özdora Akşak of Bilkent University stated that public diplomacy has gradually gained importance worldwide, with the most recent example being the Russia-Ukraine War.
Akşak noted that one of the criteria determining a country’s future in political, economic and social terms is its ability to create the “soft power” effect of public diplomacy”.
Rafet Fatih Özgür, SVP Corporate Communications of Turkish Airlines, also stated during his presentation titled “Storytelling Workshop” that a photo frame can sometimes be more powerful in creating the effect of the story and added that a photo of delivery in an aeroplane could be more striking than many fictions and commercials.
Mehmet Cemal Öztürk, Press and Public Relations Counsellor of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, delivered a speech titled “Corporate communication begins upon arrival”, saying Türkiye has achieved a certain level of success in road transport and can transport a large number of people safely at the same time, so the next focus of the country will be on railways.
During his presentation titled "Twitter is as important as Tiktok," Matthias Lüfkens, CEO of Digitips, shared information about digital diplomacy with participants.
Mevlüt Eren, Graphic Editor of Anadolu Agency, also stated that infographics provide information in a planned, simple and understandable manner during his presentation titled "The World of Infographics: News Design”.
Eren emphasised that the primary purpose of infographics is to transform information into a visual story that will have an impact on the audience.
A certificate ceremony marked the end of the Stratcom Youth: International Young Communicators Forum.
