The delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez, Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador İbrahim Kalın arrived in the capital of Libya for an official one-day visit.
The delegation is expected to meet with Head of the Presidential Council of Libya Younes Menfi, Deputy Heads of the Presidential Council of Libya Abdullah al-Lafi and Musa al-Koni, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh of the Government of National Unity of Libya, and Chairman of the High Council of State of Libya Khalid al-Mishri, and members of delegation are likely to meet with their counterparts separately.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Çavuşoğlu will hold a joint press conference after his bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush of Libya.
The visit is likely to focus on holding the elections in the country as soon as possible, developments regarding the legal infrastructure required within this framework, bilateral relations and cooperation with Libya under the 2019 Memoranda of Understanding on Security and Military Cooperation and on Delimitation of the Maritime Jurisdiction Areas in the Mediterranean Sea.
According to diplomatic sources, the priority on the visit’s agenda is the unity of all relevant institutions around a concrete plan in order to maintain stability in Libya and to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on the basis of national consensus as soon as possible.
The delegation is also expected to visit the land allocated by the Libyan authorities for the construction of the Tripoli Embassy campus in the Tajura region of Tripoli.
The delegation is expected to return to Ankara in the evening following their contacts in Tripoli.
