Speaking to the press ahead of the "Second Communications Council" held at the ATO Congresium, the Presidency's Head of Communications, BurhanettinDuran, recalled that the First Communications Council was organised in February 2003.
Head of Communications Duran pointed out that much has changed since then and that there have been a vast variety of developments in both world politics and the communications realm concerning the international system and said, "From a communications perspective, we have entered an era where artificial intelligence and information are increasingly prominent, and the boundary between disinformation and truth has become blurred. It is precisely in such a challenging environment that we will hold the Second Communications Council here today, honoured by the presence of our President, to examine the issues of the communications world and to evaluate Türkiye's strategic communication."
Noting that the Council will continue tomorrow with panels to be held at the Directorate of Communications, Head of Communications Duran added:
"Our primary objective is to manage the risks Türkiye faces within the framework of the Century of Türkiye and in line with the principle of the Century of Communications and to set forth Türkiye's strategic communication vision across numerous areas, from local media to digital media and from artificial intelligence to hybrid threats and disinformation, by keeping pace with emerging developments. In preparation for the Second Council, 425 communications experts across 16 distinct working groups evaluated both global developments and the challenges in Türkiye, conducting a comprehensive study based on these assessments. This has been a highly productive endeavour. Over these two days, we will ensure these studies are finalised and shared with the public.
In conclusion, we will issue a final declaration to mark the completion of this preparatory work to resolve the issues within Türkiye's communications habitat, in line with the Century of Türkiye principle and our President's vision and directives. I hope that this will be beneficial for Türkiye and for the entire world in the pursuit of truth."
Prior to his statement, Head of Communications Duran visited the stands set up in the venue and took photographs with university students.
