Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran stated in a post on his Nsosyal account that citizens should not give credit to unverified information amid acts of provocation and disinformation regarding the developments in the region.
In his post, Head of Communications Duran said:
“The recent escalation of tensions between the United States and Israel on the one hand and Iran on the other, and the risk of this escalation turning into a direct armed conflict affecting other countries in the region, is unacceptable. It constitutes a serious source of concern for our region and for global peace.
The ongoing developments threaten not only the parties directly involved but also stability and the safety of civilians across a wide geography. In this context, mechanisms for dialogue and negotiation must be urgently reactivated.
Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye prioritises permanent peace, regional stability, and the pursuit of solutions grounded in international law.
Türkiye will continue to fulfil its responsibilities to alleviate tensions, protect civilians, and ensure the effective functioning of diplomatic channels.
Our state, along with all of its institutions, is closely monitoring developments in the region and taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our citizens.
As the Directorate of Communications, we continue our efforts in this process to counter attempted provocations and the spread of disinformation. We have full confidence that our media will address the process, as always, in an objective manner and from a Türkiye-centred perspective.
We consider it important that our citizens remain more vigilant during this process—particularly in the field of digital media—against provocations and disinformation; that they refrain from giving credit to unverified information and instead rely on statements issued by our official institutions."
