Head of Communications Duran’s message on TRT World Forum 2026

The Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, posted a message on his NSosyal account regarding the TRT World Forum 2026, which took place at the İstanbul Congress Centre under the theme "A World Without a Center: Who Leads When the Rules Run Out?".

In his post, Head of Communications Duran stated:

"At this year’s TRT World Forum 2026, marking its 10th anniversary and held in the presence of and under the auspices of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we discussed the future of the international system and shared global challenges under the theme ‘A World Without a Center: Who Leads When the Rules Run Out?'.

At a time when the international system is undergoing a profound structural crisis, the number of centres of power is increasing whilst shared rules are eroding; as global competition intensifies, the sense of shared responsibility is waning. We see the most striking example of this situation, in which threats have become global while solutions remain national, in Gaza. The genocide unfolding before the eyes of the world illustrates the international system’s failure to safeguard peace, justice and human dignity.

At a time when the possibility of a Third World War is being discussed, we in Türkiye say, 'History does not have to repeat itself.' Under the leadership of our President, and with the initiatives 'The world is bigger than five' and 'A fairer world is possible', we advocate for a more balanced distribution of power, more inclusive representation, and the establishment of a new international order based on shared responsibility. We hold the belief that what the world needs are not the victors of a new war but the architects of a new peace.

As the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, we strive to contribute to the summit diplomacy led by our President through the forum diplomacy we have developed. Through the STRATCOM Summits, we are bringing together the international communication and security agendas in İstanbul; as part of the NATO Summit, we are addressing the future of global security in the "Allies in Ankara" programme, organised in collaboration with the Munich Security Conference and SETA, whilst at the Turkic World Dialogue Forum, held as part of the Organisation of Turkic States Summit, we are discussing the shared future of the Turkic world. We will be organising a similar forum next month during the Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit.

We see the TRT World Forum not merely as a platform for discussing the world, but as a forum for laying the intellectual foundations of the world yet to be built. We believe that true leadership lies not in deriving strength from a lack of rules, but in being able to re-establish rules that apply to everyone. I hope that the ideas emerging from this year’s forum will lead to new partnerships, practical reforms and concrete roadmaps.

On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for honouring our forum with his presence; celebrate the 10th anniversary of the TRT World Forum and extend my thanks to the TRT family for their efforts in organising this event, as well as our distinguished guests."
