The Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, stated in his address at the TRT World Forum that humanity needs fresh guiding lights in today's bleak global climate, as demonstrated by Türkiye.
Head of Communications Duran stated that every year at the TRT World Forum, they strive to address critical issues related to international affairs and new approaches centred on humanity, and this year they gathered to discuss the topic "The Global Reset: From the Old Order to New Realities," expressing his belief that very good ideas would emerge.
Head of Communications Duran stated that numerous conflicts and difficulties have arisen in the region, the environment, and the global arena during the previous two decades, and that a just and equitable response is required.
Head of Communications Duran noted that crises ranging from pandemics to global warming and technological threats to security dangers have left people and societies vulnerable. He also stated that in recent years, conventional wars have begun to occur between major countries.
"In the current bleak and gloomy atmosphere, all we need are fresh guiding lights"
Head of Communications Duran added:
"Such a world marks the end of the world as we know it, yet the risks we have seen throughout history remain. And this is not a new phenomenon; the turmoil and darkness teach us very thought-provoking lessons. Again, we witness selective humanism, double-standard advocacy, and respect reserved for the powerful. Amid all this troubling climate, the most tragic issue has definitely been the genocide in Gaza. Only a few voices of conscience have risen — foremost among them our President and Türkiye — in the face of Israel, which tramples upon international law. Fortunately, this stance was later embraced by all peoples of the world, bringing us to where we stand today. In the current bleak and gloomy atmosphere, all we need are fresh guiding lights, new actors. It is the new actors who will create the new world for us, not the old one."
Head of Communications Duran noted that in a time marked by a global crisis of order and meaning, Türkiye, under the leadership of President Erdoğan, has taken the initiative to create a fairer future for its region and the globe.
Head of Communications Duran stated that Türkiye has become an actor sought after, expected, and desired in every crisis zone around the world, adding, "Of course, what has elevated our country to this privileged position is its distinctive approach. The mottos long emphasised by our President — ‘The world is bigger than five’ and ‘A fairer world is possible’ — have resonated globally. Today, people across different regions of the world believe that this vision can indeed be realised. Mr President, Your Excellency has played a pivotal role in this achievement. The peace diplomacy you have pursued has become a policy that inspires world leaders."
"We are witnessing a Türkiye that both envisions and contributes to the making of a new world"
Head of Communications Duran went on to say:
"Today, Türkiye stands as one of the key actors in the global reset phase, drawing strength from its diplomatic, military, and normative capacities. Under the strong leadership of our President, Türkiye has articulated a vision. A vision based on the principles of human security, justice-orientated order, and resilient systems. Türkiye serves as a mediator, for it places human security at the heart of diplomacy and believes that crises should be resolved through dialogue rather than military means. This approach makes Türkiye a party not to conflicts, but to solutions. Türkiye is a producer. Its domestically developed capacity in defence and technology not only reinforces national security but also contributes to regional stability.
For us, production is a way of generating economic growth, independence, self-confidence, and dignity — but it is also about winning together and sharing together. Türkiye is a transformative power, for through its humanitarian diplomacy, it prioritises justice over power and conscience over interest. Its migration policies, development projects, humanitarian relief operations, and diplomacy for Gaza all reflect Türkiye’s efforts to infuse international politics with moral depth. Thus, we are witnessing a Türkiye that both envisions and contributes to the making of a new world."
“We stand with truth against lies and with justice against falsehood”
Emphasising that the Directorate of Communications is fully aware of its responsibilities in the global struggle, Head of Communications Duran stated, “We are working to fulfil our duties in a world where technological feudalism and social media fascism have re-emerged and where societies and economies are being undermined by disinformation. At a time when our families and core values are under attack, we stand with truth against lies and with justice against falsehood. We resist cultural imperialism while demonstrating diversity and cultural dynamism. In this regard, our national broadcasters — particularly TRT and Anadolu Agency — are making great efforts as the voice of truth. They are giving voice to the oppressed in dozens of languages, bringing today’s issues to the forefront in a multidimensional manner.”
Head of Communications Duran extended his heartfelt appreciation to all journalists who, despite the pressure and restrictions they faced in Gaza, have remained unwavering in their mission to convey the truth to the world. He paid tribute to those who were martyred in this cause and offered his prayers and best wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
