Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran commented on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s interview with Asharq Al-Awsat in a post shared on his NSosyal account.
In his post, Head of Communications Duran stated:
“President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s interview with Ghassan Charbel, Editor-in-Chief of the London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, has been published in English and Arabic.
In the interview, President Erdoğan once again clearly articulated Türkiye’s strong resolve and inclusive vision for the future of our region.
As President Erdoğan emphasised, the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, shaped by the principle that ‘regional issues must be resolved by regional actors', reflects not an effort to form a bloc targeting any country, but a strategic resolve centred on peace, stability, solidarity and collective deterrence. This historic step taken by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan embodies the principle that ‘the security of one is the security of all.’
Underscoring that the future of the region cannot be shaped in isolation from the will of its countries, President Erdoğan has pointed to regional ownership rather than formulas imposed from the outside, to diplomacy rather than escalation, to dialogue rather than conflict, and to cooperation rather than division. Across a vast geography stretching from the Gulf to the Strait of Hormuz and from Lebanon to Syria, Türkiye advocates the building of a regional order based on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, where security, development and prosperity advance together.
Türkiye is not a passive spectator in its region but a strong actor that takes the initiative for peace, fosters trust and assumes responsibility. The vision set out by President Erdoğan is a powerful call affirming that the future of the Middle East can be written not with conflict and instability, but in a spirit of peace, brotherhood and sovereignty, and with a shared resolve for the future. Guided by this understanding, our country will continue to pursue constructive diplomacy with determination for regional and global peace."
