The Presidency’s Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, marked the 488th anniversary of the Preveza Naval Victory in a message posted on his NSosyal account.
In his message, Head of Communications Duran said:
"The resounding victory secured by the Turkish fleet, commanded by Admiral Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha, at Preveza on 27 September 1538 consolidated Turkish supremacy in the Mediterranean and etched an enduring mark on the history of naval warfare.
The strong naval tradition that has endured from Preveza to the present lives on today through our Naval Forces, which carry out their duties to safeguard the security of the Blue Homeland.
I commemorate, first and foremost, Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha, along with his heroic sailors and our revered martyrs, with mercy, and remember our veterans with gratitude.
On this occasion, I proudly mark the 488th anniversary of the Preveza Naval Victory and extend my congratulations on Turkish Naval Forces Day."
