Head of Communications Duran condemns detention of A Haber team in Israel

Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, posted on his NSosyal account condemning the detention of Emine Kavasoğlu, Director of Programming at A Haber, and her team in Israel, stressing that journalists must never be targeted while carrying out their professional duties.

In his post, Head of Communications Duran said:

“I strongly condemn the detention in Israel of Emine Kavasoğlu, Director of Programming at A Haber, and her team, and express my solidarity with them.

Targeting journalists or depriving them of their freedom while they carry out their professional duties is unacceptable under any circumstances. The safety of members of the media and the public’s access to accurate and impartial information are fundamental rights ensured by universally recognised legal norms.

Israel must immediately cease these unlawful practices, which represent a blatant violation of the freedom of the press.

We will continue to firmly stand against any attempts targeting journalists."
