Head of Communications Duran comments on Turkic World Dialogue Forum held under theme “From Ideas to Dialogue, Onwards”

Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran shared his reflections on the Turkic World Dialogue Forum, held under the theme “From Ideas to Dialogue, Onwards” as part of the 13th Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States, in a post on his NSosyal account.

Head of Communications Duran also noted:

“At the opening of the Turkic World Dialogue Forum, which we organised in Ankara as the Directorate of Communications under the theme ‘From Ideas to Dialogue, Onwards’ as part of the 13th Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States, we discussed the shared history of the Turkic world, cooperation in the field of communications and our common goals for the future.

Throughout history, the Turks have established 16 empires and hundreds of states across three continents, giving rise to a vision of civilisation. The #OrganisationofTurkicStates is the most comprehensive manifestation of our historical capacity for state organisation. Since the first Summit of Heads of State of Turkic-Speaking Countries, held in Ankara in 1992, our joint efforts have evolved into an institutional structure under the umbrella of the Organisation of Turkic States.

Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye has been part of the Turkic world’s shared journey from the very beginning and will continue to be so. As we advance our cooperation in line with the Turkic World Vision 2040, we must also strengthen our common language, shared memory and communications capacity. In particular, ensuring that artificial intelligence models are trained on high-quality content produced in our own languages and drawn from our own sources is of strategic importance in shaping the narrative of the Turkic world through our own voices and values.

Combating disinformation in the digital age is also among our shared responsibilities. In the face of disinformation campaigns targeting the Turkic world, we must transform fact-checking from an individual responsibility of institutions into a collective response. One of the fundamental objectives of our cooperation in this field should be to ensure that a disinformation campaign emerging in Bishkek is met with a swift response that very same evening from Baku, Tashkent, Astana and Ankara. Developing our shared media ecosystem through joint films, television series and documentaries will also contribute to telling our own story together.

With these thoughts and sentiments, I would like to thank our Vice President, Dr Cevdet Yılmaz, for honouring our forum with his presence; our distinguished guests who travelled from across the Turkic world to attend; all participants for their contributions; and everyone who worked to make this event possible. I hope that the Turkic World Dialogue Forum will yield beneficial outcomes and that the relationships established here will mark the beginning of regular consultation mechanisms.”
