Presidency’s Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran delivered a speech at the Investment and Finance in the Türkiye Century Programme and book launch event hosted by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications and the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency at VakıfBank Headquarters in the İstanbul Finance Centre.
Stating that a state’s strength within the international system cannot be measured solely by its military capacity, diplomatic influence, or population, Head of Communications Duran emphasised that a stable and sustainable economy has become one of the most vital elements of a state’s genuine strength and independence.
Noting that Türkiye, particularly over the past twenty-five years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has become a “safe haven” amid the turbulent waters of the global economy, Head of Communications Duran said: “Behind this success undoubtedly lies a profound transformation in mindset, as well as countless projects and investments planned and implemented within the framework of a new intellectual vision. This clearly demonstrates that, at a time when geopolitical crises occur more frequently, supply chains are disrupted for various reasons, and volatility in financial markets is increasing, Türkiye has emerged as a hub where political stability and economic confidence are reinforced at both the regional and global levels. This clearly demonstrates that Türkiye’s strategies to become the ‘Connectivity Hub of the World’ are yielding concrete results.”
Head of Communications Duran stated that, in this context, one of Türkiye’s most significant institutional capacity pillars is the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Stressing that the Office has successfully managed national and international economic fluctuations over the past two decades, Head of Communications Duran noted that, with its experience and expertise, the Office has not only attracted foreign capital to Türkiye but has also modernised the country’s global business culture.
Referring to the book titled “Investment and Finance in the Türkiye Century,” Head of Communications Duran stated that the publication brings together 220 speeches delivered by President Erdoğan between 2014 and 2025 on the themes of investment and finance. He continued: “In doing so, the book clearly reveals the intellectual foundation underpinning Türkiye’s recent economic transformation centred on investment, production, employment, and exports. The speeches of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spanning eleven years constitute a carefully crafted footnote to our recent economic history. Each speech reflects the spirit, priorities, and objectives of its respective period. In this respect, our book not only records history but also serves as a guide for the future.”
“Through its activities, the Directorate contributes to positioning our country as a stable hub on a global scale”
Head of Communications Duran stated that, through the vision of “Strong Hub Türkiye,” pursued in coordination between the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency and the Directorate of Communications, they aim to transform Türkiye’s geopolitical advantages into economic leverage.
Emphasising that the Directorate of Communications attaches great importance to the concept of “economic communication,” and that it communicates Türkiye’s investment and development vision to the entire world while providing this vision with a strong and influential voice at both the national and international levels, Head of Communications Duran stated:
“Through the panels we organise abroad, our international public diplomacy activities, our mechanisms for combating disinformation, our financial literacy programmes for university students, and the training programmes we provide to economy and finance journalists, the Directorate contributes to the accurate representation of Türkiye, the sound formation of perceptions regarding the investment climate, and the positioning of our country as a reliable, predictable, and stable hub on a global scale.”
Head of Communications Duran stressed that digitalisation is rapidly transforming the financial sphere today and underlined the need to take measures against financial disinformation. Noting that this issue constitutes one of the foremost priorities of the Directorate of Communications, Head of Communications Duran stated that the Centre for Combating Disinformation, operating under the Directorate, conducts a proactive struggle against attacks targeting economic stability.
Stating that financial confidence today cannot be built solely through market instruments, Head of Communications Duran said:
“Confidence is reinforced through the timely dissemination of accurate information, the proper informing of the public, the protection of investors from manipulation, and the preservation of strong communication between the state and the nation. For when financial decisions are made, expectations, perceptions, news flows, and content circulated on digital platforms are far more influential than we may assume. We take seriously the need to preserve ethical boundaries at the intersection of the media and finance sectors and to ensure that journalistic activities do not evolve into commercial relationships. The Directorate of Communications conducts a robust ‘economic communication’ strategy against manipulative rhetoric, speculative content, and financial disinformation.”
“For us, ensuring that our country remains free from all forms of chaos and turmoil is a matter of profound awareness”
Head of Communications Duran stated that international investors do not form their opinions about countries solely based on figures and financial data, emphasising that what matters most to investors is a country’s stability, leadership, and the confidence it generates on a global scale. Noting that a nation’s will to endure and survive also builds this predictability and confidence, Head of Communications Duran continued:
“Let us recall the chaos that was sought to be created during 15 July, whose tenth anniversary we will observe this year. The response we demonstrated as both state and nation against this assault targeting our peace and stability became one of the finest examples of our determination to protect and build our future. Today, the greatest factor in preserving the stability of Türkiye, which we describe as a safe haven, is our resolve to stand together as state and nation. For us, ensuring that our country remains free from all forms of chaos and turmoil is a matter of profound awareness. Indeed, our struggle continues both domestically and internationally against those circles seeking to drag Türkiye into chaos and turmoil through manipulation.”
Head of Communications Duran stated that they would continue to build a vision that inspires confidence through the strong leadership and resolute diplomacy demonstrated by President Erdoğan during his international engagements. He added that their objective is to strengthen an environment in which citizens can utilise digital investment platforms freely, consciously, and securely; where the climate of confidence in the market is preserved; and where Türkiye’s economic vision is communicated to the world through a strong, transparent, and consistent language within a sound economic communication framework.
Concluding his remarks, Head of Communications Duran said:
“Over the past twenty years, Türkiye has reshaped the global investment landscape not only through its reforms, legal guarantees, and visionary incentive programmes, but also through the transparent communication strategy it has pursued. By directing its investments towards digital infrastructure, green energy, and high technology, our country is advancing confidently and decisively towards the economy of the future. I firmly believe that under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and through the vision of the ‘Investment Century,’ Türkiye will continue its determined rise in the field of economy. And all of this, hopefully, heralds an era in which the heart of production, technology, and finance will beat in these lands.”
Meanwhile, Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran also shared a post on his NSosyal account regarding the launch event of the “Investment and Finance in the Türkiye Century” book.
In his post, Head of Communications Duran stated:
“I was greatly pleased to come together with our esteemed guests in İstanbul on the occasion of the “Investment and Finance in the Türkiye Century Programme.”
I hope that this programme, jointly organised by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications and the Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency, will yield positive outcomes for our country and nation.
“Financial Literacy Day,” declared under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is an important reflection of our vision for economic awareness and a strong society.
As digitalisation facilitates access to financial instruments, it has become more important than ever for our citizens to act on the basis of accurate information, assess risks soundly, and interpret opportunities consciously.
Over the past twenty-five years, under the visionary leadership of our President, Türkiye has become not only a growing economy but also a hub that inspires confidence, generates stability, and stands as a strong centre for global investors. The two decades of expertise of our Investment and Finance Office of the Presidency has further strengthened our country’s position within the international investment ecosystem.
As the Directorate of Communications, we attach great importance to the concept of “economic communication.” We communicate Türkiye’s investment and development vision to the entire world and provide this vision with a strong and influential voice at both the national and international levels. At a time when digitalisation is rapidly transforming the financial sphere, taking measures against financial disinformation constitutes one of the foremost priorities of the Directorate of Communications.
The book “Investment and Finance in the Türkiye Century,” which we introduced today, is an important work reflecting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s perspective on investment, production, employment, and development. Recording Türkiye’s economic vision, this book also offers a strong perspective for the future.
With these thoughts, I would like to express my gratitude to Vice President Dr Cevdet Yılmaz, who honoured our programme with his presence, our esteemed guests, President of the Investment and Finance Office A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, our panellists, and everyone who contributed to this programme.
