Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran’s statement on President Erdoğan’s meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz

In a post shared on his NSosyal account, the Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, commented on the meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

In his statement, Head of Communications Duran said:

"The meeting between our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany has ushered in a new chapter in Türkiye–Germany relations.

The objective of boosting the trade volume, which has reached 50 billion dollars, to 60 billion dollars attests to the solid basis of the economic partnership between Türkiye and Germany. A wide range of cooperation areas, particularly in the defence industry, promises a strategic synergy for the future.

Our President once again underlined Türkiye’s clear stance that the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza must not be repeated and that lasting peace can only be achieved through a two-state solution. This approach reflects Türkiye’s principled position, both from a humanitarian perspective and in terms of regional stability.

The coordination on the issue of Syria and the steadfast commitment to the implementation of the March 10 Agreement demonstrate Türkiye’s diplomacy guided by the principles of peace, stability, and solidarity."
