Head of Communications Altun’s message on “Accurate Reporting and Media Ethics” book

Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun shared a post on his social media account about the book "Accurate Reporting and Media Ethics."

Head of Communications Altun stated the following in his post:

"Accurate and timely reporting of news by the media on various issues on the country's agenda is critical to individuals exercising their right to information and, as a result, the proper functioning of democracy.

Accurate reporting is of utmost importance in combating disinformation campaigns, which have a wide range of negative consequences for social life. In other words, we can combat disinformation more effectively through accurate reporting and adherence to media ethics.

Some time ago, the Directorate of Communications published a book titled "Accurate Reporting and Media Ethics" to facilitate the work of media members who have adopted accurate reporting as a guiding principle.

We have prepared this high-quality guide in the light of world examples and made it available for our media and nation. We are particularly interested in bringing it to the public's attention these days.

Recent events have put our media to a significant test. It is crucial for them to continue their activities within the framework of values that have been institutionalised and universalised over a long period, as this will facilitate the struggle of truth against lies."
