Head of Communications Altun: “We confronted all nefarious campaigns with the armour of truth”

The Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun shared a post on his social media account regarding the "Disinformation Bulletin 2024 Almanac," published by the Centre for Combating Disinformation within our Directorate, which lists the disinformative content addressed by the Centre in 2024.

In his post, Head of Communications Altun said:

"Today, although the gateways to information are wider than ever, accessing reliable information has become as challenging as navigating a labyrinth. Unfortunately, the limitless possibilities of the digital age have also become fertile ground for information pollution.

Disinformation targeting the truth acts like a poison, clouding the minds of societies, eroding trust, and threatening humanity, unity and solidarity.

As the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, we are aware of the harm caused by misinformation that spreads globally. In 2024, we meticulously monitored all forms of false news, slander, and defamation against our country and humanity, striving to reveal the truth.

Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we made significant strides in ensuring that the public has access to reliable and accurate information in the face of disinformation and dark campaigns. We confronted all nefarious campaigns with the armour of truth.

During this period, our Centre for Combating Disinformation actively engaged in successful efforts against disinformation both domestically and internationally. In this almanac, we compiled the fact-checking efforts against fake news about natural disasters, elections, and social events in 2024, as well as Israel's global disinformation campaigns and manipulations during its genocide in Gaza.

Standing firm on the side of the ‘truth,’ we will persist in our efforts against all dirty tricks, lies, and disinformation in 2025 as well, saying, ‘Long Live the Truth.’"
