In a message posted on his social media account, the Presidency's Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, thanked AK Party Konya MP Selman Özboyacı for his sensitivity in ensuring that our country's name was referred to as "Türkiye" at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) United Nations Parliamentary Hearing held at the UN General Headquarters in New York.
In his message underlying that our country's name has been registered as "Türkiye" at the UN, Head of Communication Altun said:
"Türkiye, not Turkey
We would like to remind all our counterparts that, as a result of the initiatives of our esteemed President, our country's name has been officially registered as 'Türkiye' at the United Nations.
I am grateful to our AK Party Konya MP Selman Özboyacı for his sensitivity in ensuring that our country's name is accurately referred to as 'Türkiye' at the United Nations."
