The Presidency's Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, shared a post on his social media account regarding the ongoing conflict and the military status quo in Syria.
Head of Communications Altun stated in his post the following:
"Both the public and our government closely monitor the ongoing conflict and the military status quo in neighbouring Syria.
The significant public interest drives our media to prioritise the unfolding issues at the forefront of the agenda, striving to meet their journalistic responsibilities by providing on-the-ground reporting and delivering the latest information to the public.
As the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, we are dedicated to making every effort and taking all necessary precautions to enable the media professionals, especially those on the ground, to perform their duties under more favourable conditions and to inform the public more effectively while also maintaining coordination among all relevant authorities.
Amidst all of this, we are also fulfilling our responsibility to remind our media outlets and fellow citizens of specific principles for reporting on the Syrian issue.
In light of the present situation, marked by a significant increase in disinformation, we are confident that our media will implement a broadcasting policy that emphasises accountability, prioritises citizens' rights to access accurate information as well as national interests, adheres to military and intelligence confidentiality at the highest level, and avoids unfounded news, hearsay, and unrealistic and misleading interpretations.
Broadcasting that exclusively focuses on Türkiye's official statements regarding the matter and refrains from analyses that interpret intentions is also one of the critical components in ensuring that the public is well-informed. In this context, it is crucial to keep in mind Türkiye's commitment to Syria's unity, stability, and territorial integrity, with its sole goal being to ensure our national security and eliminate terrorists.
We would like to highlight the importance of our citizens avoiding reliance on unverified information while engaging with the media, abstaining from spreading news and information that may contain disinformation, and paying attention to the statements from official institutions as reliable sources of accurate information."
