Head of Communications Altun shares post on documentary “Surviving Assad”

The Presidency's Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, announced via a post on his social media account in Turkish and English that the documentary series "Surviving Assad," which sheds light on the war in Syria and crimes against humanity, will be available to viewers on the TRT World channel.

Head of Communications Altun stated in his post:

"Over the course of 13 years, the war in Syria has upended millions of lives. Torture, executions, disappearances, and death sentences handed down in courtrooms… The Assad regime has not only massacred its own people but also trampled on human dignity.

@trtworld’s ‘Surviving Assad’ documentary series brings this brutality to light in six compelling episodes: how the uprising sparked by a child’s graffiti, Hamza El Hatib, in Daraa was bloodily suppressed by the regime; the transformation of justice into execution in the Thursday Courts; a father’s despair searching for ‘Number 23’ in morgues; the metamorphosis of torture into a weapon that destroys bodies and souls; the silenced screams of witnesses in the Tadamon and Eastern Ghouta massacres; and finally, the untold stories of the survivors.

This documentary is not just a production but a call to the conscience of humanity, a stand against the obscuring of truth. Children were killed in Syria, families torn apart, and a people faced annihilation. Yet history will also record those who remained silent. As Türkiye, we will continue to be the voice of the oppressed and bring the truth to light through journalism. ‘Surviving Assad’ exists so that these events are not forgotten because to forget is to forsake our humanity.

The first episode airs today at 16:30 GMT on @trtworld."
