The Presidency's Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, congratulated the commission of Türkiye's first domestic and national communication satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A, with a post on his social media account.
"With the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the ceremony to be held today at the Türksat Gölbaşı Campus, Türkiye’s first domestic and national communications satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A, will be officially entering into service. This historic step is a concrete demonstration of Türkiye's goal of full independence in space and communication technologies.
With the launch of TÜRKSAT 6A, our coverage area will expand to include India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, thus increasing our reach from 3.5 billion to 5 billion people. This satellite, which will remain operational for a minimum of 15 years, serves as an indication that Türkiye is among the few countries which are capable of manufacturing communication satellites.
May TÜRKSAT 6A, the space symbol of a pioneering and leading Türkiye in every field in the Century of Türkiye, be auspicious."
