Head of Communications Altun: “Aysenur’s martyrdom is the latest example where Israel tries to get away with impunity.”

Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated “Aysenur was a brave soul who risked her own life to expose and resist the Israeli occupation.” in a post on his social media account.

Head of Communications Altun noted the following in his post:

With a heavy heart, we have sent Aysenur Ezgi Eygi to her last journey. May God accept her martyrdom. I offer my sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones. As the Turkish government, we will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice.

Aysenur was a brave soul who risked her own life to expose and resist the Israeli occupation. Israel targeted her to silence those who raise their voices against its brutal oppression of the Palestinian people.

Aysenur has been murdered by Israel’s occupation forces in the West Bank. Israel first lied about the circumstances of her death and then admitted its crime while refusing to conduct an investigation.

Our government has already launched an investigation and we call for an international investigation. Since Aysenur was a dual Turkish-American citizen, the U.S. must do the same and pressure the Israeli authorities for answers and full accountability.

The international community must end its habit of looking the other way when Israel has been committing countless crimes, ethnic cleansing and genocide. Aysenur’s martyrdom is the latest example where Israel tries to get away with impunity. It is way past time for Israeli accountability.

Those beautiful souls like Aysenur who cannot stand the sight of oppression will go down in history as the true heroes who fought for justice. We salute their sacrifice and honor their memory from the bottom of our hearts.
