German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay a working visit to Turkey on January 24 upon the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meetings, bilateral relations between Turkey and Germany will be reviewed with all aspects and potential steps towards further enhancing cooperation will be addressed.
The visit is expected to focus on relations between Turkey and Germany, the accession process, Customs Union update and visa liberalization within the framework of Germany’s EU term presidency starting from July this year.
In addition to bilateral relations, the two are expected to exchange views on regional and international issues, particularly Libya and Syria.
During the visit, President Erdoğan and German Chancellor Merkel are also expected to attend the official opening of Turkish-German University’s new educational and social buildings.
