Five international agreements ratified by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were promulgated in the Official Gazette.
According to the "Agreement on Donations in the Field of Health" signed between Türkiye and Ukraine on March 28, Türkiye will send 410 items of medical supplies and medications in various dosages and amounts to Ukraine in a gesture of goodwill and friendship.
Without Türkiye’s permission, Ukraine will be unable to donate these items to a third party.
Agreement with Iraq to avoid double taxation
The agreement to avoid double taxation and to counter tax evasion signed with Iraq on December 17, 2020, stipulates that its provisions will apply to both income and corporate taxes in Türkiye, while in Iraq, they will apply to taxes on income, real estate, and income of foreign corporations contracting in Iraq.
Citizens of either country who have a place of work, a company headquarters, or a construction site for a period of more than 12 months in one of the countries will pay taxes in the country where the place of work, company headquarters, or construction site is located.
Those who earn real estate income in the other signatory country, including agriculture, forestry and fishing, will likewise pay taxes in accordance with the legislation of the country where the real estate income is earned.
The earned income by a corporation in one of the signatory countries from commercial activities conducted in the other signatory country will be taxed in the other country as well.
However, international trade by ship, plane and land will be taxed in the country where the company is headquartered.
Cooperation with Uganda and Ivory Coast in the field of defence
According to the "Cooperation Agreement on Defence Industry" signed between Türkiye and Ivory Coast on February 29, 2016, the parties will cooperate to create favourable conditions for joint research, development, production, and modernisation regarding spare parts, tools, defence materials, military systems, technical demonstrations, and technical equipment they need.
Parties that will exchange information on implemented defence industry standards will be allowed to sell or exchange surplus items and services in the defence industry inventory in line with their respective legal legislations.
Additionally, the two countries shall collaborate on joint production and on fairs.
Another international agreement ratified in the field of the defence industry is the "Memorandum of Understanding on Military Cooperation between Türkiye and Uganda", which was signed with Uganda on June 1, 2016.
The agreement calls for cooperation in 16 different areas, including military training, defence industry, exercise and training participation, non-combat operations, personnel exchange, combat, electronic information systems, and cyber defence.
The "Host Country Agreement on the Rights, Privileges, and Immunities of ECOEI between Türkiye and Economic Cooperation Organisation Educational Institute (ECOEI)" establishes the president of ECOEI, its members, and the institution's responsibilities to the host country, Türkiye, as well as Türkiye’s obligations to the president of ECOEI, its members, employees, buildings, bank accounts, and security.
