Epic of July 15 to be honoured on its fourth anniversary in Turkey and abroad

On the fourth anniversary of the Epic of July 15, events to be also attended by President Erdoğan will be organized in order to ensure that the nation’s victory is not forgotten.

Ministries, public institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations are set to organize events under the coordination of the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications in many countries, especially in Turkey, in order to commemorate and tell about the nation’s legendary fight against the coup attempt by FETO on July 15.

President Erdoğan’s Schedule on July 15

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's schedule on July 15 will begin by placing flowers on the July 15 Monument in front of the Presidential Complex. President Erdoğan will also attend the July 15 Martyrs Commemoration Event to be held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) and then host the martyrs' families at the Presidential Complex. President Erdoğan will address the nation on July 15 at 21:00.

Events to Honour Democracy Victory

On the occasion of the events to be organized on the fourth anniversary of the honourable fight conducted by the glorious nation and heroic security forces against the treacherous coup attempt by Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and the ensuing democracy victory, coordination meetings were held by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications with ministries, public institutions, non-governmental organizations and universities.

In order for the programs and events to be carried out in compliance with the spirit of July 15, the "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Events Strategy Paper” was prepared by the Directorate of Communications and shared with all institutions.

The programs and events were planned in a framework to tell about the July 15 coup attempt and FETO thoroughly in an effective manner with all aspects, to highlight the nation’s resistance, the struggle of the state and democracy victory, to commemorate martyrs and veterans, to keep the spirit of national unity and collective memory alive and to raise awareness on July 15 overseas. The “July 15 Project Tracking System” was created within the Directorate of Communications to monitor and report the processes of preparing, implementing and assessing the events.

Number of Programs and Events reach 3 thousand

A total of 1,500 programs and events were carried out by ministries, public institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations within the scope of "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day" both in Turkey and abroad in 2019. The number of programs and events to be organized within the context of July 15 this year has reached 3,000. This year, a total of 2,238 events will be organized at home - 1,609 events by ministries and public institutions, 521 by universities and 108 by non-governmental organizations. 752 events will be also organized abroad.

Projects on July 15 by Directorate of Communications

Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, in addition to its task of general coordination, will also carry out a series of programs and events with regard to July 15 both at home and abroad.

  • Work on Corporate Identity on July 15

To provide visual integrity as well as the content for all these events and projects, the Directorate of Communications has updated the work carried out on corporate identity, particularly regarding the July 15 logo. A variety of visual materials were made available on the website “http://15temmuz.gov.tr” to be used on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day commemoration events.

  • It will be ensured that the videos and other images prepared will be available on social media channels, airports, train stations and screens of Turkish Airlines in-flight entertainment systems throughout the week of July 15.
  • A special cover designed specifically for July 15 will be featured on Üsküdar Valide Sultan ship and High-Speed Trains, run by the Turkish State Railways.
  • Short videos with the theme of July 15 will be displayed on pop-up windows on the websites of all public institutions during the week of July 15.
  • July 15 on Walls of Kuleli Campus

The treachery of FETO, the fight put up by the nation and the heroism of martyrs will be featured via video mapping on the walls of Kuleli campus, one of the hot spots of the coup attempt on the night of July 15.

  • Victory of Nation in the Sky with 200 Drones

A “light show with the theme of July 15” will be conducted on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge, another hot spot that has witnessed the coup attempt, with 200 drones for the first time in Turkey on the night of July 15.

 Digital Display Centres

“July 15 Victory Digital Display Centre,” set to tell about the treacherous coup attempt on July 15 and the democracy victory won against it in the most effective manner, will meet with citizens at central squares in Bursa, Çanakkale, Samsun, Konya, Kayseri, Antalya and Diyarbakır.

  •  “Epic of July 15 Symphony” by Fahir Atakoğlu

Fahir Atakoğlu, one of the prominent composers in Turkey, has composed the “Epic of July 15 Symphony” in remembrance of the July 15 martyrs and to honour the democracy victory. The concert to be performed in coordination with the Presidency’s Symphony Orchestrate, will be broadcast on TV channels, the July 15 portal and social media accounts.

  • “15 Panels on July 15”

The panel series titled “15 Panels on July 15” that will tell about the FETO structuring and the July 15 coup attempt to the international public will be held in the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Kazakhstan, China, Qatar, Albania, South Africa, Bangladesh, Spain, Guatemala and Ethiopia. The panels will be held in the form of online webinars due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • July 15 Kit for International Media

Directorate of Communications will send a kit consisting of documentaries and materials about July 15 and the FETO terrorist organization to the members of the media along with chief editors of the world's leading media outlets.

  • Images of July 15 in World Capitals

Images of the July 15 coup attempt will be shown through digital screen vehicles in crowded squares of the USA, the UK and other countries to be selected.

  • Short Film and Screenplay Competition

The award ceremony of the short film and screenplay competition on July 15, launched by the Directorate of Communications in 2019 with the aim of supporting and highlighting the works that will explain the July 15 coup attempt by FETO and the dignified resistance of the nation through cinema, will also be held this year.

  • International Anti-Coup Hackathon

The International Anti-Coup Hackathon, which was held for the first time last year, will continue this year as well. With the Hackathon, it is aimed to reveal the results of coups that impede the functioning of democracy and to create big data on military coups.

Directorate of Communications will also implement a public service ad with the theme of July 15, choreography events, augmented reality application, calligraphy exhibition and sand art performance. In addition to the folk song titled “Epic of Yiğitler,” depicting the heroism of all our martyrs, especially those of July 15, and the fight put up by our nation, it will be ensured that the national unity and democracy victory will be commemorated on social media with a great many short films, videos and melodies with the theme of July 15 as well.

On the fourth anniversary of July 15, the ministries, public institutions and non-governmental organizations will implement many programs, projects and events related to their fields. The epic fight put up by our nation against the July 15 coup attempt and the betrayal of FETO will be depicted with a wide range of projects from commemoration events to painting, poetry and short film competitions with the theme of July 15, exhibitions and panels at home and abroad to concerts and movie screenings.
