Directorate of Communications stands by the members of the press during the Covid-19 period

Directorate of Communications has sent support packages containing protective equipment and hygiene supplies to members of the press who have made a significant contribution to providing prompt and accurate information to the public by making great sacrifices during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, numerous equipment and supplies, ranging from masks and gloves to thermometers and hand sanitizers, were distributed to members of the press in special bags. The packages have also been provided to members of the international press operating in Turkey.

The packages also contained the book entitled “Turkey’s Effective Fight Against Coronavirus” prepared by the Directorate of Communications and a letter from the Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun, addressed to the members of the press.

In his letter, Altun emphasized that in this period when the whole world was battling the Covid-19 pandemic, which knew no borders, a health army of physicians, nurses, health professionals, and laboratory staff was fighting in the front line and that all media professionals, from reporters to cameramen, were also performing a very important task in providing accurate information to the public.

Noting the importance of protecting the health of the press members while working in the field, as their support was needed especially during such periods, Altun described the packages of protective equipment and hygiene supplies sent to the members of the press as “A tribute of our nation’s appreciation for your superior efforts and sacrifices”.
