A comprehensive book on Süleyman Çelebi's “Wasilat al-Najat”, also known as “Mevlidi Sherif”, was prepared by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications.
The book, prepared as part of “2022: Year of Süleyman Çelebi” and whose introduction was penned by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, narrates the story of Süleyman Çelebi, one of the ancient values of Anatolia, and his valuable work, Mevlidi Sherif.
The first chapter of the book “Mevlidi Sherif” provides a historical overview of the Islamic-Turkish civilization. The book includes examples of how the love of the prophet manifests in Turkish culture and how the mawlid tradition has been preserved in Turkish and other societies from the past to present.
The second chapter, which focuses on the main theme of the book “Mevlidi Sherif”, offers information about the circumstances of that time period and life of Süleyman Çelebi, the author of Wasilat al-Najat. The book, which tells the story of Mevlidi Sherif s writing as well as the language, style, general characteristics and societal worth of the work, points out the Mevlidi Sherif's translation into many languages and its importance in other parts of the world. The book also includes the feelings evoked in the hearts by the couplets from Mevlidi Sherif’s chapters.
The book, on the other hand, will be given to citizens as a gift by the Directorate of Communications as part of today's Special Event for Lailat al Mawlid at the People's Mosque.
"It is one of the most significant symbols of our nation's love for the Prophet."
In his introduction, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that showing the utmost respect and love to our Prophet, who was sent by Allah the Almighty as a mercy to the worlds, a guide to humanity and a role model for believers, has always been among the outstanding characteristics of our nation.
Pointing out that the love of Allah and the Prophet running in the blood of the Turkish nation is evident in Turkish culture, art and literature, President Erdoğan stated that Wasilat al-Najat, whose author is Süleyman Çelebi, is among the most distinguished works in which the love for the Prophet Muhammad is expressed.
President Erdoğan noted that this distinguished work, which is known by the name of Mawlid al-Sharif and recited on holy days and nights, and in ceremonies such as birth, death, marriage, and many other occasions in the lands dear to our heart, particularly in Anatolia, is one of the most important symbols of our nation's love for the Prophet.
We announced 2022 as the "Year of Süleyman Çelebi”
Noting that they announced 2022 as the “Year of Süleyman Çelebi” in order to commemorate the author of this precious work with mercy on the 600th anniversary of his death, President Erdoğan also stated that they have ensured that the 600th anniversary of Süleyman Çelebi's death is included in UNESCO's commemorations and anniversaries.
Pointing out that in this regard, our relevant institutions and organisations would exert effort throughout the year to commemorate and introduce Süleyman Çelebi through activities to be organised at home and abroad, President Erdoğan stated that he viewed the Presidency's Directorate of Communications' publication of a comprehensive work on Süleyman Çelebi and his preeminent work Wasilat al-Najat to be of great value.
President Erdoğan said, "I hope that the love of the Prophet and the truths of our greatest religion, Islam, as reflected in Süleyman Çelebi's succinct words, would illuminate the hearts of believers and lead to the prosperity of all humanity."
