Republic of Turkey’s Directorate of Communications organized a series of events in New York ahead of the visits planned in the US on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Under the Turkey Talks panel series, the panel titled "Turkey-US Relations: Strengthening Old Partnership and Searching New Areas" and other events were held in Washington, and the second leg of the program is currently being held in New York.
As part of the New York program, members of the Turkish delegation first met with Bloomberg News representatives. This was followed by a meeting titled “Turkey, The United States, and the UN: A Presidential Briefing” held at Harvard Club in partnership with the Foreign Policy Association. Alparslan Bayraktar (Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources), Prof. Gülnur Aybet (Senior Advisor to the President, Member of Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Board, Faculty Member at National Defense University) and Prof. Mehmet Akif Kireçci (Member of Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Board, Faculty Member at Social Sciences University of Ankara) attended the meeting as speakers, which was moderated by Noel V. Lateef (President of Foreign Policy Association).
Following the meeting, Turkish delegation came together with the Editorial Board of the Wall Street Journal. The delegation also met with Tayfun Selen, who is the first Turkish Mayor in the US. This meeting was followed by a conference with Turkish press members who are resident in the US. Later on, the delegation came together with Assyrian and Jewish opinion leaders in the US.
The program in New York was finalized with a meeting between the Turkish delegation and the Turkish businessmen doing business in New York.
