Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun wished mercy upon mountaineer Birkan Uzun, a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), who lost his life as a result of an accident in the United States.
In a post on his Twitter account, Director of Communications Altun stated that he heard with profound sorrow that Uzun, who made everyone proud with his accomplishments, passed away as a result of an accident in the United States of America.
Director of Communications Altun noted:
“May Allah have mercy upon our son, Birkan, who had been a source of pride for us by waving the TRNC flag, the symbol of Turkish Cypriot sovereignty and independence, at numerous summits of the world, and by achieving great success with his objective of seven summits in seven continents and I extend my condolences to all of his family members and friends. I firmly believe that his accomplishments, which he had attained through great devotion, effort, and arduous journeys, as well as his courage, hard work, and patriotism, will serve as an inspiration to many of our young people. Birkan, who was deeply committed to his country and nation, will always hold a particular place in our hearts.”
