Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun held face-to-face and inter-delegation meetings with Aida Balaeva, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Information and Social Development.
During the meeting held at the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications, topics included public diplomacy efforts, cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture, communication, and media, and Turkish-Kazakh relations.
Marking the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence in his speech at the meeting, Fahrettin Altun said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan places great importance on the Turkic world and Türkiye’s relations with Kazakhstan.
Telling how they see the spirit of solidarity among Turkic world countries in Turkish-Kazakh relations, Altun said they would enrich bilateral relations by developing cooperation in the fields of media and communications.
“We will carry out vital collaborations in the fields of media, film, and television series, as well as public diplomacy,” said Altun, adding that they would form a joint working group and take concrete steps as soon as possible.
Altun said an existing Joint Media Platform between Türkiye and Azerbaijan could be transformed into a platform that would include all Turkic countries.
Altun also conveyed his greetings and respects to Kasım Cömert Tokayev, Kazakhstan’s President, and Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan’s founding President and Honorary Head of the Turkic Council.
Balaeva stated that she believed the talks would accelerate relations between the two countries and stressed the importance of media cooperation.
Balaeva thanked Altun for the hospitality extended to her and her delegation during their visit and stated that the development of ties between Türkiye and Kazakhstan serves both countries’ interests and that collaborative efforts could yield fruitful results.
Balaeva also presented Altun with a medal for being a "Pioneer in the Field of Information," Kazakhstan’s highest honor in the media.
Attending the meeting on the Kazakh side were Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Türkiye Abzal Saparbekuly, Kazinform News Agency Director General Askar Umarov, Kazakhstan Radio and Television Corporation Deputy Chair Ilkhamzhan Ibragimov, Kazinform Executive Board Chair Erlan Bekhojin, and embassy staff.
The Turkish side was represented by the Presidency's Deputy Directors of Communications Zahid Sobacı and Çağatay Özdemir, Media Relations Coordinator Mücahid Eker, Public Diplomacy Department Head Ömer Faruk Tanrıverdi, Press Department Head Büşra Karaduman Aktuna, and Strategic Communication and Crisis Management Department Head Gökhan Yücel.
