Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun: "I wish God’s mercy upon all of our martyrs who gave their lives for national will, their homeland, and Türkiye forever. We have not forgotten the people's resistance on July 15, and we will not forget or allow it to be forgotten.”
In a message he shared on his social media account on the occasion of July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated that July 15 marked a new turning point in Türkiye's political history, representing the epic fight put forward by the nation.
Noting that on that treacherous night, the civil resistance, which upholds the will of the nation, destroyed the image that the dark forces had imposed on Türkiye, Director of Communications Altun said that the nation, which took to the streets in response to the call of its leader that night, defended its liberty, independence and democracy, declaring to the entire world that the owner of sovereignty is itself.
Stressing that this resistance was also etched in world history in shining letters, Director of Communications Altun made the following remarks:
“On the night of July 15, our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared, ‘I have not recognised a power greater than the power of the nation,’ demonstrating to the entire world that there is no obstacle that the will of the nation cannot overcome. On this path, our greatest strength is our unity and solidarity. I wish God’s mercy upon our martyrs who gave their lives for national will, their homeland, and Türkiye forever. We have not forgotten the nation's resistance on July 15 and will not forget or allow it to be forgotten. On this occasion, I would like to remind you that, as in the past, we will hold the invaders, coup plotters, terrorist organisations, and their supporters accountable in court, and we will completely eliminate them along with their nefarious goals.”
In his post, Director of Communications Altun also shared a video featuring President Erdoğan's remarks inviting the nation to the streets during the FETO coup attempt on July 15, as well as images of citizens' resistance and democracy watches.
