Director of Communications Altun: “We find this stance of Germany on silencing journalists unacceptable, and we are concerned about the crackdown on the freedom of press in this country.”

In a post shared on his social media account, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun condemned the detention of two Turkish journalists in Germany.

Director of Communications Altun said, "I condemn the detention of Sabah newspaper's Germany Representative İsmail Erel and Sabah Europe newspaper's Editor-in-Chief Cemil Albay upon the complaint of a confirmed FETO member like Cevheri Güven."

Director of Communications Altun stated that the arrest of Turkish journalists by conducting early morning raids on their residences and offices for their reports against FETO in Germany and the confiscation of their equipment is a blatant violation of the freedom of the press, adding:

"We find this stance of Germany on silencing journalists unacceptable, and we are concerned about the crackdown on the freedom of press in this country. We call on the German authorities, who support FETO and permit the activities of this bloodthirsty terrorist organisation, to abandon this misguided stance, to cooperate genuinely with Türkiye in its fight against terrorism, and to immediately release the detained Turkish journalists."
