In a post on his social media account, the Presidency's Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, stated that Türkiye's adversaries are conducting successive disinformation campaigns employing fifth column elements, and he urged social media companies to be much more sensitive in the fight against disinformation.
Director of Communications Altun emphasised that the disinformation campaigns conducted in Türkiye for the purpose of psychological warfare, similar to those conducted throughout the world, aim to exert pressure on democracy and democratic negotiation culture.
Director of Communications Altun stated that the primary objective of disinformation campaigns is to create political instability and social chaos, highlighting that fake news and manipulative information pose a clear threat to democracy and human rights.
Director of Communications Altun stated that inciting radicalism was the most commonly employed tactic in this process and used the following statements:
"Thanks to the governments led by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after 2002, Türkiye has made significant breakthroughs in many areas and has emerged as a regional power and global actor that contributes to the balance of world politics. While Türkiye continues its struggle for growth and liberation under the vision of the Century of Türkiye, the country's adversaries are conducting successive disinformation campaigns employing fifth column elements."
