Emphasising that the most important capability a country could have on the world political scene is strong political leadership, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "The presence of our President in this sense is one of Türkiye's most important capabilities in the international arena," in his speech at the opening of Kuzguncuk Nevmekan, which was transformed from a historical bath into a library and cafe by Üsküdar Municipality.
"Türkiye is a stabilising global actor today"
Underscoring that Türkiye is an influential regional power and global player, Director of Communications Altun said:
"We no longer have a withdrawn Türkiye that is suffocating in its internal contradictions and coping with crises. There is an assertive, outwardly-oriented Türkiye. As the world's guarantor of both stability and peace, this strong and assertive Türkiye is actually putting on a very significant performance. Türkiye is a stabilising global and regional actor today. We live in a difficult age with a challenging geography. Both the global crises and the tensions in our region present us with serious challenges. Despite these challenges, our country has been a real island of stability for the last 20 years. Türkiye is a power that brings stability to its region and peace to the global stage."
Noting that racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia are on the rise in various parts of the world, particularly in the West, Director of Communications Altun stated, "The world we live in is a world where the truth is in crisis and is witnessing a crisis of truth. Unfortunately, because of new media technologies and the malicious actors who manage these technologies, lies have taken precedence over truth and reality and have become commonplace. And as Türkiye, we are among the nations most exposed to this disinformation and barrage of lies. Not only us, but all societies around the world, are struggling with a new reality to the point where they are exposed to a crisis that we refer to as a crisis of truth. Unfortunately, lies spread much more rapidly than the truth, endangering the rights of individuals and the security of nations. That is why we, as the Republic of Türkiye, are exerting a great deal of effort to confront this crisis of truth."
"Türkiye, as an assertive country, refused to play the role assigned to it and acted on its own behalf and on its own account"
Noting that Türkiye's struggle over the past two decades has been a struggle not to be swallowed by the world and to survive in the world, Director of Communications Altun said, "Türkiye, as an assertive country, refused to play the role assigned to it and acted on its own behalf and on its own account. The last 20-21 years have been marked by very serious difficulties and challenges in this sense. Under the leadership of our President, Türkiye has challenged the international status quo and endeavoured to establish a world order in which global justice is established in place of the international status quo."
Stating that President Erdoğan's call, "The world is bigger than 5. A fairer world is possible," was fundamentally a call for resistance against the current global injustice, Director of Communications Altun said:
"Today, we live in an environment of global injustice, with the Western colonial order at its core. Türkiye is a country that openly opposes this Western colonial system and institutionalises the struggle against it. In this respect, it is the hope of the oppressed throughout the world." Unfortunately, this global injustice is also sustained by the efforts of Westernist elites who have accepted cooperation with this Western colonial order. In his political endeavours, our President fought both this Western colonial order and the Westernist elites in cooperation with that system. He achieved success in this struggle with the support and acumen of the nation. 'What is Erdoğan's politics?' if you ask me, I would clearly and unequivocally say, 'Resistance to the Western and Westernist order, the system of dependency.'"
Director of Communications Altun said that Türkiye was freed from this dependency system with democratisation moves and the elimination of tutelage in the last 21 years.
Stating that the Westernist colonial order of dependency, of course, would not wish 'all the best' in response to Türkiye, which had been following the prescriptions it had been provided with by the West for many years, now rejecting the prescriptions issued by the IMF and other international organisations, Director of Communications Altun said, "Instead, they tried to stop and block Türkiye's march in various ways and methods, as we all have witnessed. If we were to examine even only the last 10 years, we would see that there have been efforts to intervene in Turkish politics with various methods in this direction. These interventions are external interventions that utilise both external and internal elements in their implementations."
"Strong political leadership is the most important capability in today's age of uncertainty"
Director of Communications Altun emphasised that considering the world political scene, the most important capability a country could have in this global environment was strong political leadership, and said, "The presence of our President in this sense is one of Türkiye's most important capabilities in the international arena. Today, it is a fact that all political scientists have determined that there is a leadership crisis in the West, to put it clearly and unequivocally. Today, Türkiye is a country that distinguishes itself positively with its strong political leadership. If Türkiye had not had this political stability and strong political leadership, it could have paid very high costs due to the recent global epidemic, wars and similar crises."
Director of Communications Altun said, "Our President, both in the national and international arena, is making an effort to improve Türkiye, to increase Türkiye's effectiveness in the global arena, and to solve the global justice crisis. This is also a source of pride for Türkiye. Our President's struggle is Türkiye's just struggle. And as this struggle succeeds, the oppressed people of the world rejoice."
