Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun shared a post on his social media account on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Ukraine.
Director of Communications Altun stressed that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held talks with President Zelensky in Ukraine along with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to advance the cause of peace and added, "He [President Erdoğan] has once again reiterated Türkiye's long standing support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. President Erdoğan has been at the forefront of diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire and facilitate peace talks."
Director of Communications Altun emphasised that Türkiye was able to bring delegations from Russia and Ukraine for the first time in Istanbul in March and has been pushing for the continuation of this process.
Noting that Türkiye, thanks to President Erdoğan's leadership, has supported Ukraine on many fronts, including humanitarian help, and that the Istanbul Agreement on grain exports has been a breakthrough in relieving the pressure on the global food supply chain, Director of Communications Altun said:
"To help facilitate dialogue and diplomatic solutions, Türkiye has been working with both Russia and Ukraine while engaging the United Nations as well. The countries which support Ukraine must spend more energy on diplomacy to end the war as soon as possible. The war in Ukraine has already caused great humanitarian suffering and resulted in geopolitical fractures in our region. The implications have already been far-reaching, and the conflict needs to end through diplomatic negotiations.
As Türkiye, we are committed to supporting Ukraine's political sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our President Erdoğan has been constantly engaged since the start of the conflict, and his efforts have already produced serious results.
