Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, “The honour of the President’s office is the honour of our nation. The President’s office represents the will of this nation. Only the impudent may attempt to attack the national will. I strongly condemn the insults directed at our President and his office.”
In a thread he shared on his social media account regarding Sedef Kabaş’s insult to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Presidency, in a television program, Director of Communications Altun emphasised that politics, opposition and journalism all have morals.
Director of Communications Altun said:
“Those who do not demonstrate morals to this country are miserable people with no self-respect. A so-called journalist shamelessly insults our President on a television channel that exists purely to promote hatred. I condemn this impudence, this immorality, in the strongest terms possible. The act is not only immoral, but also reckless in the name of politics, opposition, and journalism.”
Recalling Nurettin Topçu’s words, “It is vital to set the concept of responsibility at the centre of morals.” Director of Communications said:
“In the face of such immorality and recklessness, we must speak out for democracy and justice. We are saddened to see how a marginalized segment of our country is becoming more radicalized on a daily basis, and how they are throwing tantrums in public as they become more radicalised. On every platform, these elements spread serial lies, fabricate cheap gossip, and insult under the pretext of journalism. Insulting someone is a crime, not a right or freedom. Nobody has the right, in the name of free expression, to insult our President, who has served this country for years. Political incompetence cannot be remedied through radicalism, deadlocks through insults, or ignorance through gossip.”
Pointing out that politics is conducted by focusing on the nation, and journalism is performed by producing news, Director of Communications Altun added:
“The honour of the President’s office is the honour of our nation. The President’s office represents the will of this nation. Only the impudent may attempt to attack the national will. I strongly condemn the insults directed at our President and his office once again.”
