Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "Türkiye is a state of law. Never lose sight of this. Supporters of tutelage will never again endanger our democracy. The failed pawns of foreign actors cannot stand in the way of a growing and stronger Türkiye!"
On Twitter, Altun said, "A few retired admirals came together and drafted a ‘declaration,’ and fifth column groups got excited.” He urged them to “mind your own business” and added:
"That Türkiye is a thing of the past! This nation showed the entire world how it defeated coup lovers. Don’t cross the line. Who are you? How could you shake your finger at the legal representatives of the national will? Türkiye is a state of law. Never lose sight of this. Supporters of tutelage will never again endanger our democracy. Failed pawns of foreign actors cannot stand in the way of a growing, strengthening Türkiye."
"Our august nation has the final say in these lands"
Sharing a photo of the Directorate of Communications headquarters at night with its lights on, Altun decried the message “given by 103 presumptuous persons” just 103 days before the anniversary of the defeated July 15, 2016 coup attempt. He added: “Our august nation has the final say in these lands. In the face of any anti-democratic attempt or intent, these lights will forever stay on and never go off for our august nation. We stand on duty in the service of our nation."
Altun said the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Ankara had launched an investigation to identify the individuals “who drafted the scandalous declaration as well as those who may have been involved and to determine and enforce the requirements of law. Not only the signatories but also those who encouraged them will be held accountable before the law."
