Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun announced via a social media post that the Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) would be held with the theme "Disaster-Emergency Management and Humanitarian Assistance" along with the participation of eight countries to express solidarity with Türkiye in the aftermath of the February 6 earthquakes.
Director of Communications Altun said:
“At the suggestion of President Ilham Aliyev of friendly Azerbaijan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will attend the summit as an observer for the first time. The summit will bring together eight countries to express solidarity with Türkiye in the aftermath of the February 6 earthquakes. Views will be exchanged on issues on the common agenda of member and observer states at our extraordinary summit, in addition to those that will be considered regarding the expansion of cooperation in the fight against disasters and their consequences."
Highlighting how significant and meaningful it is for Türkiye to host the heads of state and government of brotherly countries that are members and observers of the Organisation of Turkic States and rushed to assist Türkiye following the earthquake, Director of Communications Altun said, "As always, we wish the extraordinary summit of our Organisation of Turkic States, which has once again demonstrated to the world its spirit of unity and solidarity, to yield auspicious results, and we once again thank all our brothers and sisters for making us feel that Türkiye is not alone."
