Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "September 12, when the nation's will was dealt a blow and democracy, and human rights were trodden upon, is a dark stain on our democracy."
Director of Communications Altun shared a post on his Twitter account on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the September 12 coup.
In his post, Altun said, "September 12, when the nation's will was dealt a blow and democracy, and human rights were trodden upon, is a dark stain on our democracy. The resistance on July 15 proved once again that our nation would never ever allow any attempt disregarding their will to take place again, such as March 12, September 12, and February 28," and shared a video featuring the September 12 coup.
In the video, where it was noted that on September 12, 650 thousand people were detained, 1 million 683 people were blacklisted, 210 thousand people were prosecuted, thousands of people were stripped of their citizenship and died in prisons as a result of torture, it was recalled that 50 people, including Mustafa Pehlivanoğlu and Necdet Adalı, were executed by the junta.
In the video, where it was reminded that Erdal Eren was executed at the age of 17 after his age was raised by the decision of the junta in Ankara Ulucanlar Prison, it was stated that "On July 15, our nation declared to the whole world that it would not allow another September 12 incident to occur. Today, the Turkish Nation honours the cherished memories of the victims of the September 12 junta and confidently strides to prepare these lands for a bright future.”
