Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "I would like to underline that we will contribute to every precaution to be taken against global disinformation and digital terrorism."
Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun sent a video message to the "Turkic World New Generation Media Workshop" organised by the Directorate of Communications and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality at Bursa Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Centre.
Director of Communications Altun stated that the new generation media, which has gained popularity due to the rapid development of internet technology and mobile technologies, consists of various channels, especially social media platforms. Altun also said that the processes of receiving and producing news are undergoing a transformation as a result of the innovations brought about by the new generation media. He highlighted that this created both fresh opportunities and significant challenges for countries.
Emphasising that in the new generation media, where disinformation, smear campaigns and malicious attempts can become widespread, it is essential to constantly and only fight for the truth, Director of Communications Altun continued as follows:
"The Turkic world, and Türkiye in particular, are among the countries most vulnerable to subversive operations such as disinformation. The rapid dissemination of disinformation through digital media poses a hazard to all societies. Aware of this, it is crucial that we unite around a common vision, common mission, common language and our common cause in order to develop strong collaborations and partnerships to take advantage of the opportunities and combat the threats of the new digital age.”
Pointing out that they are exerting efforts to strengthen their cooperation with the Turkic world in the field of media and communication in this context, Director of Communications Altun noted that they held the Fourth Meeting of the Ministers and High Officials in charge of Media and Information of the Organisation of Turkic States in İstanbul in May.
Noting that Türkiye has a very broad and powerful communication model from public diplomacy to public relations, from combating disinformation to crisis management, Director of Communications Altun added:
"We believe we can scale up the 'Türkiye's Communication Model' to encompass the brotherly countries and the entire Turkic world. We must unite with a common attitude and discourse around shared goals, and we must fight together against the dangers of the new generation media, particularly disinformation. We should reinforce our brotherhood with a common discourse, using the power we derive from our historical codes; we should highlight cooperation in the fight and act together against all international threats and demonstrate that a fairer world is possible."

Director of Communications Altun also stated that strengthening the environment of mutual trust in the Turkic world will ensure that we all progress towards a safer future.
"We must eliminate threats together by combining our knowledge and technology, sharing our experiences, within the framework of common action plans against those who use digital media as a weapon," Director of Communications Altun said and noted that he believed that they would overcome the obstacles in the future by utilising the historical and cultural accumulation of the Turkic world.

Stressing the need to strengthen solidarity in order to raise the visibility of the Organisation of Turkic States in the international arena, Director of Communications Altun said that he regards the Turkic World New Generation Media Workshop as a very valuable and meaningful step in this context.
Noting that he wanted to increase the number of such meetings and develop cooperation for a common civilisation, common geography, common language, and common future, Director of Communications Altun added:
"As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan underlined, 'We must develop human-oriented shared strategic plans with all stakeholders and determine the roadmap for digital transformation.' In line with the same goal, we should hold consultations more frequently and work together to develop and strengthen cooperation in the field of media and communication.
We should establish common platforms that will act together with the Turkic states in the fight against fake news and disinformation targeting kindness and truth. We, as the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications, are ready to support every step to be taken in the field of media, communication and information. I would like to underline that we will contribute to every precaution to be taken against global disinformation and digital terrorism."

Emphasising that they would negotiate, discuss and share the Türkiye’s Communication Model with all stakeholders and design a new process, Director of Communications Altun said:
I believe that we will unite our pens and hearts against the 'Islamophobic' language in the media. We should join forces on this issue and wage a global struggle as we isolate those who try to normalise racism and discrimination against Muslims and develop common strategies against those who insidiously spread discrimination, prejudice and hatred. We will say 'stop' to racism. We will break the global tutelage. We will develop our institutional capacities. We will uphold our reputation to the highest level in our region and the world. We will speak out what is right, not what is imposed, and we will spread justice, peace, tranquillity and prosperity to the whole world."
Director of Communications Altun said that this century would be the Century of Türkiye and the century of the Turkic world and added that this century would be the century of pushing the partnership, both between states and nations, to the top.
