Presidency's Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, shared a post on his social media account regarding his address at the "Media's Struggle for Truth in the Gaza War: Violence, Disinformation, Censorship Symposium" organised by our Directorate in Istanbul.
Director of Communications Altun stated the following in his post:
''Since October 7, we have been striving to increase global awareness of Israel's genocide in Gaza, to end Israel's systematic disinformation campaign, and to communicate the legitimate demands and arguments of the Gazan and Palestinian people to the rest of the world.
Since October 7, 120 journalists have been martyred, and hundreds have been injured in Gaza as a result of Israeli attacks. Almost every day, the Israeli government kills more than one journalist. These journalists are heroes fighting for the truth. If it were not for the efforts of these heroes, the world would be unaware of Israel's massacres and the persecution of the people of Gaza today.
Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we are determined to contribute to the just resistance of the people of Gaza and work to make their voices heard more loudly. As Türkiye, we are prepared to finish our share of the work to the end in this regard.
Over the course of two days, we will cover the following topics in separate sessions:
-The policy of repression and violence pursued by Israel against accurate information sources,
-The role of international media in conflict,
-Systematic disinformation activities carried out through digital media channels,
-The global fight against violence against journalists, disinformation, and censorship.
In this way, we will expose how Israel manipulates, distorts, and alters the facts for its own interests.
I am confident that the ideas presented in our symposium will contribute to an accurate and critical comprehension of the crisis we are experiencing, the valiant sacrifice of our colleagues, and our struggle for truth.
We believe that despite all obstacles and intimidation, nothing will stand in the way of our struggle for truth, and no one will be able to stop it.
On this occasion, I hope that our Symposium on the Media's Struggle for Truth in the Gaza War will be auspicious and fruitful, and I would like to thank my colleagues for their contributions.''
